Have you tried using live chat on your site? Has it increased conversions? Which live chat service would you recommend? Thanks!

I use Volusion Live Chat. Not sure if it will do any good. I put it in my webhosting site, but we rarely online. They can submit their ticket though and it will be responded.

Do you have the free plan? I see it comes with 1 operator...aren't they supposed to answer that chat sessions for your visitors??

No. You have to be online to answer. The 1 operator is you.

I mostly find those live chats really annoying. On reputable sites they actually have someone online to answer. Most sites can't be bothered and just have a live chat facility that doesn't work. Seriously annoying.

    Check out LiveZilla.

Not sure about it increasing conversions, but you get the picture... It potentially could increase them due to the fact people feeling generally safer about buying your product.

Really the answer is to try it, run a split-test.

I would try it. You have nothing to lose and after you will see whether it yields a higher conversion. My friend has had live chat on his site and always told me spending the time talking with your future prospects is always a good thing.

Thanks to all who replied so far! I do understand that everything is about test, test, testing. There's no way around it I guess. That Livezilla is free i see, but I wonder if there will be real people tending to my visitors of just some annoying bots. I've engaged in some "live chat" on some sites and several times it actually turned me off and pushed me farther away from the sale whether than drawing me in closer. But I guess all services are not the same. Oh well...

I notice many clickbank products use it, so it must produce "decent" results.

I believe that's the one where they have a character talking in a bot voice. Doesn't appeal to me at all. I have always wondered if that really helps increase inversions for people coz it actually irritates me lol..

I just visited the site for like 10 minutes, and I typed in a couple questions for the agent and never got any answers - although it indicated they were online.

With this service do you have to do the chat sessions with your visitors yourself - or will you be assigned an agent that handles this for you?

I use Zopim and it is definitely useful, especially because if you are not there to chat, it lets them send an email, almost like a voicemail. Livechat adds a certain professional air to your website

Are you talking about Live Chat, like for support? Or a Live Chatroom where people can discuss subjects etc. I run an entire marketing network using gvoconference. It's not perfect, but does the job.

I think he is talking about the support style live chat thing, where the window popups and asks if you have any questions.

I certainly would not recommend gvo/hc for live support on a website.

I also use Live Support Software, Live Chat Support Software Online, Livechat Software, Live Customer Help Software - Zopim.com

    And conversions were greatly increased.

I try to provide online support as often as possible

I personally like Zopim.com because it's low cost/risk, no pop outs which allows for continuous engagement and integrates well with Zendesk.com too. Some other websites include:
    - liveperson (.) com
    - livechatinc (.) com
    - moxiesoft (.) com/tal_products/chat.aspx

The cost on Volusion's site and many of these sites are only for the software, not live chat agents.

PM me if you're interested in live support agents for $5.00/hour, available 24/7.
