Quick Wordpress Question

mornin' campers. Hope everybody had a truly great weekend.

About a month ago I switched one of my big sites over from Joomla to Wordpress. The impact so far has been very good for SEO, traffic, aesthetic appearance, etc.

But one thing I really miss (or maybe I'm overlooking) is the ability to track the number of hits each article gets. I want to know where my readers are going.

Same thing for the banner ads on my site. The only way I have now to track their performance is to go to the affiliate manager and see how many clicks they have, which may be acceptable if all of the affiliate managers actually provided complete info.

Anybody using any plugins that provide this sort of info reliably?

If you are using cpanel then Awstats provides you with lots of information on your traffic and visitors. You can see which articles are getting the most views and which keywords are being used to find your site.

    Hope this helps.

    wow nice quick replies.

Valtan - I've tried openx, and found it too involved, and a lot more work than I wanted. Plus there were times when I'd load up a banner, check to ensure it was working correctly, and come back in the morning to find a blank spot on my site for no reason.

Skyla, I'm very familiar with awstats. I'm actually using a more sophisticated web analytics system called WebCEO. What I'm looking for is a simple hits tracking system for each article ala Joomla (in addition to the banner clicks).

I gather you want to track the hits to different URL's?

I use statpress and jetpack (with wordpress.com stats) and also Google analytics

And i use also pretty link pro to track links. There are other premium systems like eclipse that work as a link cloaker as well but the best benefits are really the management of your links so you know where the hits come from

Not sure if this is what you need to know. Seems i've covered all bases

the wordpress stats plugin might be what you are looking for:- WordPress › WordPress.com Stats « WordPress Plugins

If you haven't already, you might want to consider google analytics as well, referrer tracking etc per page etc.

As for your Ad tracking, If you manually install ads, you might want to consider a link cloaker, there are a couple of free ones, that will also count visits etc. I think wordpress removed them all from the plugins directory, The one i use is pretty link cloaker, but i'm not sure if it'd fit your needs. You could also use a url shorting service like bit.ly that gives you stats.

Check your Awstat first, integrate google analytic and google webmaster, you can see it in details.

Not a plugin, but you might want to take a look at statcounter.com. It works on Wordpress.

I see awstats too much for me to analyze and spend time. I go with Google analytics which makes sense to me.

awstats data seems to be inflated for me.
