Am I on the right path?

Hello, this is my first post on warriorforum. I'm also a beginner at internet marketing.

My question for you is related to choosing keywords.

I found a keyword (consisting of only 2 words), which has 1300 monthly searches, the targeted traffic is inquiring about benefits of "the keyword", so I think I could place a sale or two there.

Anyway, competition is about 6000 pages when searching "keyword" in quotes on google. allintitle:keyword returns about 500 results.

The first pages have PR of 0,1,... only the forth page has PR 5, but it's URL and name aren't a match with my keyword.

I registered an exact keyword.net site now, and I plan on writing articles pointing back to my site, using a linkwheel method, and social media bookmarking.

I plan on installing wordpress on my website, offering some useful informations about the related topic, and of course a call to action pointing to a clickbank product I want to promote.

Do you think I'm making good moves? And if not, why so?

All comments and any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi zannix. Welcome to warrior forum.

You seen to have started your journey on a good note. The keyword research you did is very important and for the fact that your url is an exact match for the keyword you are targeting, you should have on problem with making the first page. You are on the shiv track in my opinion. Good luck. You'll need it.

that looks like a doable task..

also think about what the person is going to buy. Weight loss product or bodybuilding product. Have a look at related websites to get better idea on how it works...

Promoting site for a single keyword is not a very efficient tactics. Usually it's good to do a proper keyword research first and find a few tens of "low-competitive" + "decent search volume" keywords. I would recommend doing more keyword reserach and expanding your keyword list with long tail related keywords, targeting different pages with different related products on your blog. You could also split-test different keywords leading to the same product page to see which is more effective in bringing traffic and/or to different pages with the same product to test page conversion.

you are on the right path but you may want to do that for a multiple number of sites or pages within the site as even the number 1 position would only bring you approx 500 monthly searches...less than 20 per day.

but youre thinking is exactly where it needs to start, you just need to multiply it over many pages.
