Need information about squeeze page

I have heard about squeeze page many times but i don't know what it is about What is it used for ? and is which case it is a must ?

    A 'squeeze page' is a web page that is focused on getting
    the visitor to take one main action: e.g. to subscribe and
    give you their e-mail address.

    Hence the term 'squeeze' page.

    It's not a must but it's a good idea to use squeeze pages
    if you want to focus on building your list more quickly.

    Another name for it could be "optin" page or sign-up page: it is used to 'squeeze' out the email address of a visitor

    Basically, you have an irresistible offer (a free book, free video, free audio, free/trial service) - in exchange for their email address; i.e. they subscribe to your mailing list because they are interested in your offer.
