There are numerous things that go into the price, but the most important ones in my opinion are value and accessibility.

I've seen anything from $97 for 2 weeks to $697 for 6 months in the WSO section.

Of course most people are looking for instant access such as Skype rather than email.

I think that anytime Skype chat access plus 1-2 calls a week is usual and optimal.

As far as a per month rate, I would assume you could offer any price as long as the ROI is in the plus figure. If you are offering $97/mth and your students are making $500/mth from what you are teaching then they'll stay. The same goes if you they are paying $20,000/mth, but making $30,000 from your training.

Good luck. I hope you find some good answers.

I charged a very cheap rate to start for my coaching and got some buyers right away.

I think that you should judge what your time is worth and go from there. If you can answer a few emails here and there then charge that price. If you are going to be talking hours with them on Skype, then charge higher. Simple as that.

For my students I just charge .87 a minute for one-on-one either through chat or Skype. Some instances to require remote desktop session. But it's all just basically .87 a minute.

Considering I only deal with newbies and that seems to be the level their comfortable and only pay for the work that's done.

I paid $2,500 for an hour once. I also signed up to a mentoring course that cost $500 a month for 12 months. I have a close friend that pays $5,000 a month, every month, for coaching.

Is that a misprint? If not, what's the business model to justify providing, and, receiving such a service on an ongoing monthly basis?

No its not a misprint. He pays it, and says its worth every cent. He can pull in $300,000 in one seminar, so its all relative.

Offering coaching for peanuts is a waste of time. This is business, not hopscotch.

It is expensive. People used to charge more awhile ago, back when it was more rare. It is cheaper now-a-days though.

I charge $150.00 per hour, I will make some package deals if they need more than 3 hours. I prefer to have them outsource all their marketing to my company though.

The price really depends on the value the client is expecting to receive. If you're offering coaching to newbies then they'll usually expect a lot for not much. If you're offering coaching to successful professionals then they'll value their business and time a lot higher.

I've charged everything between $97 an hour and $5k a day.

Value is in the eye of the beholder so look at your target audience and what they want and are expecting to pay. As long as you set the right expectations and deliver on whatever you promise then everyone's a winner.

Just make sure you don't make stupid promises to sound clever that you'll struggle to deliver on.

I never make earnings improvement claims -that's just stupid because you have zero control over what people will actually do with your help. Some people get enough feeling of value just from learning or being held accountable that they won't actually do anything new but just like having the coaching relationship.
