Effectiveness of simple 'hoplink redirect' pages instead of detailed reviews?

I notice some affiliates will just redirect their domain to the product sales page instead of making a review site.

Is this always out of laziness or can it be effective sometimes to take yourself out of the equation and let the sales page do the selling for you?

That's a difficult question. I personally as a buyer ALWAYS read reviews before I buy anything, so I'd definitely ignore all websites redirecting you straight to the sales page, but that's me
It would be nice to know what other people have to say on that.

Thats a good point. As far as the redirection though, the customer doesn't see it. They just click on the your site in the search results and go directly to the sales page.

The problem with this is that you can't rank a re-direct in the search engines.

So sure, if you want to pursue other traffic sources go ahead but search engine traffic is undeniably the best kind

      Interesting.

One example I was referring to is the url "175k.com" which redirects to the site for "Hack The Stock Market" with a hoplink embedded. I assumed 175k.com belonged to an affiliate but I guess it might just be an alternate url for the official site.
