I have read many times on this forum that there are plenty of people that make thousands per week. I don't know what to say, i am a little skeptical. So... is it true that there are people that are making millions on internet?

This post reminded me of Final Fantasy xD

To answer the ops question - A business model that regularly earns some marketers millions is the Membership site model.

And a lot of them aren't in the MMO niche, so you don't hear about them.

For example, a membership site that continually seeks to pro-actively sign-up new members and retain its older ones, usually reaches within the thousands (should the niche allow it).

30$ a month membership, and 3000 members and bingo you're making over 1 million a year

      That was a riot.

On-topic: I think if you can buy some of the established sites that cost quite a bit of money, you can start really pulling in some dough. I saw one site selling that costs 600k, but made 50k a month. When you have money, it is easier to make money, that is for sure

        Let's see...

You've read it many times on this forum, but you're skeptical. So you're asking for confirmation - from this forum.

        Yep. That makes sense.

ROFL I can just hear Bill Engvall or Jeff Foxworthy saying "Here's your sign..."

Mike Hill is spot on! Re-read his post again. I agree: the first sale is the toughest, mostly mentally and emotionally, if nothing else. When you're creating the product or service and then trying to figure out the marketing, you're operating in a vacuum and your mind will play games with you. But once you get in the trenches and figure it out, it's just numbers.

As he said pay careful attention to your business model. Pick the right one and it will make you rich relatively effortlessly (once you get things going). Pick the wrong one and you're much more likely to struggle for every sale.

Choose your niche and business model wisely and then have the fortitude to stick with it through the initial marketing phase until you've found the right combination. I've made money online (although not a lot -- yet). In my learning, I've gotten to know millionaires. And yes, I've gotten to know them well enough that I trust them. It's not just because they flash high-dollar checks on their websites.

My millionaire mentors? Primarily, Alexandria Brown and Sheri McConnell. Ladies in every sense of the word and sharp business women. Pick your mentors wisely!

Personally, I'm a bit distrustful of people who come out of the gate claiming to be rich and posting images of high-dollar checks on their websites. Money can't buy class and a lack of class doesn't indicate a lack of money. (Even stupid people can get rich.) But I find myself trusting people who display their wealth in quieter, more subtle ways.

The amazing thing about the Internet is that we have built-in leverage that we often don't even recognize. It's a tremendous asset!

Here's some help for you. I learned this from my mentors and it's been crucial to me.

Before you get started (or if you have to start over again), carefully consider/choose your business model.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

      1. Products
      2. Services

      That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

      Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

      1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

      2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

      3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

      Pick just ONE!

      1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

      2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

      3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS!

      F -- Follow
      O -- One
      C -- Course
      U -- Until
      S -- Successful

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you're REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

      Hope this helps!

I think it's pretty obvious people are making millions. Don't forget that every website has to have an initial founder or creator. Amazon, eBay, Gumtree and so on had to grow from somewhere.

Getting to the stage where your website is successful may just be further down the road of IM than making niche adsense sites.

Maybe your question is better phrased to be aimed at the Warrior Forum style Internet marketer. Everyone has to start somewhere don't forget

I'd imagine the way to get big is to be an innovator in the long run, not just a follower. - Not saying you can't earn money doing what other people are doing mind

The US Census Bureau reports that 6% of working Americans make over $100,000/yr. That includes everyone, including the traditional professions that make over $100k. IM'ers would be a small fraction of that 6%.

Yes a very small few make big bucks, a great many more make ok bucks, and the vast majority make peanuts.

This statistic does not include self employed people working from home. It only includes "working americans" which is so much different than self employed americans. Not to mention how many self employed americans that work at home but file their taxes through their companies. So your stats are misleading to say the least.

The figures come from amounts reported on tax forms, whether you work from home, work for your own company, it doesn't matter - that income has to come into your hands and reported. It is not restricted to "employment income from an employer."

See I like statistics like this because it puts the lie to people saying "thousands are making millions online!". The hard truth is that very few people make over $100k per year in all industries combined.

Again, the way the US government gets their stats aren't as logical as you think. For instance, when the US Government reports on unemployment did you know they never used to count people who were unemployed but not on unemployment insurance.

They only counted the number of people on unemployment insurance. People who had a part time job but not in their field were also not counted (they are now BTW). But now those types of people are included in the unemployment statistic. So it would seem that unemployment is drastically going up when in fact it's not going up as much as one would be lead to believe.

The government changes the way they collect and include versus exclude of stats to suit their own agendas. Same thing when reporting income. The stat you got did not include people who were self employed but rather blue collar workers working for someone else.

When you say there are very few people making $100K a year plus in any field is logically wrong. You don't even need stats to figure that one out and realize that your statement is wrong and based on your own ideals of what you think.

For example how many professional sports players make over $100K, these guys were not included in the stats you presented. How about Doctors, Lawyers, and all other professionals. Or what about all the actors in Los Angeles, or the many corporations around the country, again these people and companies were not included in your stats.

I could go on but at the end of the day you really have to know what kind of stats you are looking at and not just presume or think you know, when in reality you don't.

See I like statistics like this because it puts the lie to people saying "thousands are making millions online!". The hard truth is that very few people make over $100k per year in all industries combined.
I like stats like this because it proves people only see what they want to see instead of listening to the actual truth.

Don't worry about how much other people are making. Focus on how much you want to make and how you are going to make it. We know some people are millionaires and billionaires from the internet. Others make a comfortable full-time living while many more work online in addition to their full-time jobs so they can save for retirement, get out of debt, or afford a nice lifestyle. It's smart to be skeptical of individual claims, but don't doubt the power of good ideas and hard work.

There are thousands of average everyday people no smarter than you or me who are in fact making millions online. For the most part they stuck to one thing and kept at it until it worked for them.

I know one dude that I've been watching for quite some time now, who has an online membership site about marketing. He does 2 live 90 minute calls per month and publishes a few articles inside his membership site blog and charges around $67 per month (the price changes from time to time) and he has over 5,000 members. Over 2,000 of those members have been with him for well over a year now. That's around $335,000 per month...

It's actually not that hard but you have to stick with it, changing things that don't work for you until they do work.

It's much easier if you take the time to really think about what it is you want to do online before diving into several things at once, trying each one half-a**ed and then after 2 weeks decide it doesn't work for you and giving up. That's not the right mindset and I'm sure you can give a better effort than that.

Pick a niche then pick a business model, whether it be affiliate marketing, membership site, info product creation, etc... and get started.

There are a lot of people who have great ideas but cannot figure out the marketing. They give up far too early thinking their idea sucked when in fact it was their marketing that sucked.

Find a niche market you enjoy and that is currently buying online. Find out what they want and give it to them. Once your website is up and running, then figure out the marketing. Learn as you go and most importantly do everything as you learn it, a bite at a time.

Keep track through analytics software what is working and what is not working. Try to tweak the things that aren't working and see what happens. Document everything you do so you can go back later, once you get more experience and see where you can improve things that may not have been working for you the year before.

Do that and you will be successful. The time line of when things will look up for you is irrelevant, just keep moving forward and continue to improve your marketing.

The more I hang around here the more I see this is key.

You can't just do what you want (no one's aching to buy bubble gum wrappers no matter how much you love them) but you can't just pick a niche you hate (unless you REALLY understand marketing) that is doing well for others either, because it shows. It's really a balancing act, seems like.

There are some well-known marketers such as John Reese, Eben Pagan, Frank Kern, etc. who have made millions online. There are also marketers who you never heard about simply because they do not market to the MMO market or they haven't had any publicity exposure.

If you check the top Forbes 400, you'll find more than a handful of internet billionaires on that list.

Now, I really like what Mike Hill had to write, because there are many average, everyday folks who are making 6 and 7 figure incomes online. It's very possible. It's understandable if you're skeptical, but here's something to think about: if no one could make a living doing this, then this forum would not exist. People wouldn't be asking about sales copy, conversions, and where to advertise, if people couldn't make money at it.

Yeh its perfectly possible, some people claim to be doing and arn't, so watch out for them!

If you think about it if you have a good product that lots of poeple want and put it on the internet, you will make alot of money, simple. Because the internet reaches so many people its easy to make money, how much depends on the marketing and the product itself.

You can prove it to yourself by crunching the numbers.

Making that first sale is the crucial milestone. Once you've done that you can grasp the following: that one sale becomes one sale per day, then two or three sales per day, then ten per day; at some point you'll want to add other items to your sales funnel, doing the same thing, one becomes five becomes ten. Starting to get more interesting, isn't it?

You can do the same thing over and over again with as many niches as you want. All tolled, not all of them are going to do equally well, but you're going to have one or two real winners in the stable that will more than make up for the ones that are not setting any IM records.

Most people start out with affiliate marketing, but there's a lucrative lesson here if you'll stop to think about it and flip it around so you're the one with ten or twenty or a hundred affiliates each selling one, two, five copies a day or a week.

    Convinced now?

Yes there is to put it plainly.

However are there loads of warriors making millions? thousands or even hundreds per week?

There will be some but the majority no.

Dont aim at the wonderful figure of millions online, how would an extra $500 or even a $1,000 a month mean to you?

Why do you think Facebook, Yahoo and Google remains in the market and continously growing?

There are people who was able to do it. BUT, there are also scammers who doesn't make those yet claims to be making those. So be careful.

The people who are making millions will not be the people responding to this thread to tell you that yeah ... they are making millions. Most people do not divulge their incomes on a public forum.

First of all, how much income would you need to replace your job? Wouldn't you need to make thousands? Maybe you are not here to make thousands. Every one has their limits.

Now let me ask you this..if you were trying to replace your income online but didn't actually believe that it was possible, how would you ever do it?

If you do not believe, then why even bother?

I would need at least 2000 $/month. I don't have a job. I don't believe in limits. I didn't said i do not believe it is possible, i said that i am skeptical.

The opportunity on the internet is just like the California Gold Rush. It takes hard work and some luck to make a fortune whether it is online or offline.

You need to have a plan. Often it is worth it to take a class (typing, ect) read a book, subscribe to a magazine, outsource, or hire a consultant.

If you are on a very limited budget, it is probably worth while to consider your first few efforts to be learning experiences. Just because Jim-Bob down the block did good on his first effort, doesn't mean you will too. Also, there are far too many "gurus" out there. You need to be excellent at research if you want a good chance at scoring big online. Practice makes perfect. You need to keep working at it, until you "get it".

Also want to know what? Look, I had a peak at your comments on other threads and they are 2 - 8 words also. STOP doing that or people will think you are just trying to increase your post count. That could get you banned.

The big launches rake in several millions in a couple of days - but don't forget the work that was put in before it was released to the public. If you simply want to look at how people have been flowing energy then all you gotta do is look at what has been but if you wanna be part of the future you gotta flow the energy yourself

When you have true dedication to your dream it starts snowballing very quickly. You make $1k your first month, $2k your second, $4k your third, etc. I don't believe in starting with $0.01 - sell high ticket stuff. It attracts much more able people

Are you a little skeptical that there are people making thousands per week and people that are making millions offline?

Becoming financially independent and/or amassing a fortune (online or offline) is about doing work. The internet is simply a means of communication.

Back in 1997-2000 people were making millions.

Still today, these days are like the 1998 days when it hits 2025.
