My List Doesn't Make Me Money....!

Hello fellow warriors,

For some time I been building quite a sizable list in the dating/seduction niche. And my problem is the list is JUST NOT making me money.

I provide a lot of great value to my list. I give them some excellent original content in the niche (which I created) but for some reason they never BUY from me. They never BUY whenever I recommend an affiliate product.

I am guessing they are freebie seekers.

But now my problem got worst. I am having a very low open rate for my e-mails. I mean like 20%.

I using single-opt in with aweber. And just less than 20% open that first e-mail and even less open the subsequent e-mails, I mean like 5%, it is really bad!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated on how to improve this situation.

Thanks,

Mark

Seems to me either they are not getting what was promised when signing up and they don't want to join dating websites and are just looking for info.

Just a guess without seeing all data.

20% open the first email, and 5% open the second? "Really bad" is an understatement.

If you're doing as good of a job as you say you are, then find out if your emails are hitting the inbox or not.

Perhaps 20% are actually going into their spam folder and opening your initial email. That would explain why the number is low, and would also explain why only a quarter of them open the second email (because 3/4ths of them didn't whitelist you while you were there, and already forgot about you by the time you sent your second email).

If you're hitting the inbox with over 90% of your emails, as you should be, then you've got a serious disconnect somewhere. Make sure your opt-in page, your email subject line, and your email content are all congruent.

Thanks very helpful- how can I find out if my e-mails are hitting their inbox with aweber?

It is a pretty tough niche you're working in. I have two lists in this niche and neither makes me squat. I'm focusing on other niches at the moment but I think there is probably a trick to pushing people over the edge when it comes to info like this... to making them really want it... no pun intended

If you haven't been flagged as a spammer, and your emails aren't aggravating the spam meter at Aweber, then I see no reason why you shouldn't be reaching the inbox.

You could sent it to some test accounts, like a gmail address and a hotmail address. It's not a 100% sure way to check, but if you do get labeled as spam in those test accounts, then you know you've got a problem.

I would agree that this is a hard niche to monetize. You need a lot of social proof to make people buy from you in seduction niche. There are some heavy hitters taking all the money, you can see them in TV

Aww man I know how you feel *sheds a couple of tears*

I had HUGE problems with my first list, so I went back to cold-selling with a salespage, which is working MUCH better for me.

However, I DO still firmly believe that the money is in the list.

Over-delivering itself can be a problem. Don't take everyone's word for it when they say 'oh just over-deliver and you'll be loaded'. You have to strike the right balance.

It was Matt Furey's email writing course that first introduced me to the idea.

What you want to do with your free content - your salespages, your articles and your emails is to wet the appetite. Let them smell the food, but make sure they have to pay for the food itself.

With a lot of niches what tends to happen is the customer fantasizes about what your product might offer, regardless of how honest you are. But then when you actually present the information they're somewhat disappointed.

In the seduction niche for example, if you're helping a guy to get good with girls for example, you'll eventually have to tell him that he has to swallow his pride and go talk to women at random or he'll never get anywhere. But if you tell this to him straight, his immediate response will be 'What? Dude. I'm not doing that.' 'I thought there was more to it than that.' Or 'I knew that already but I'm not doing it'.

Then he'll think if this is all you have to offer, then you must suck and your product and future emails must suck.

It takes a lot of initial build-up before you give them your best info and give them the fundamentals of what they need to do to achieve their desired result.

So this is something you may want to look into.

Matt Furey gave an excellent example in his email course. He reads out an email where he tells you about Hindu Squats. He mentions all these things about how beneficial it is and famous historical athletic elites that were known to do 2,000 Hindu Squats a day. He gets you thinking "Wow! I'm learning so much! And these Hindu Squats must be awesome! They're just what I need to get in shape!"

But he never tells you how to do them. For that you need to buy the product.

Hope that helps, and I wish you luck with your email marketing.

      .
Thanks for the very helpful post- so are you saying that you now make more money by sending your prospects directly to a sales page instead of a squeeze page?

Hey, you're focusing on the worst part of my post lol.

In response to your question - yes I am. But I don't advise this approach, as you'll be leaving a lot of money on the table.

I am in fact looking to work my way back into list-building, as it is far more profitable if you do it right!

The reason I went back to using a direct sales page is because it was working for me before and I needed the money. If I had a reliable second stream of income, then I would switch to list-building in a heart-beat. You need to work at it until you make it work.
