RAP vs Clickbank for 1st big launch

Okay, I created this great video course and currently putting together 2 awesome upsells together before I launch, but I have a few questions first. For someone that has a buyer list of less then 200, and a ~50 person freebie list, would it make more sense to launch my product on CB as opposed to doing it myself using RAP? Does CB attract more affiliates? Or would you guys recommend finding affiliates by launching a WSO for a very cheap price so the product can "prove itself" and getting warriors to promote it. I've put many many hours into the course so I want the launch to be a huge success! Thanks!

I'd spend a month or two organizing Joint Venture partners to help in your product launch. You should also test your sales copy and get it to a point where it converts well for your own list. Then have a launch date that all your partners can get involved with. Do whatever you can to get heavy hitters in your niche on board and create some good relationships.

I'd also recommend using ClickBank over RAP. RAP and PayPal caused me a lot of problems with some people not being redirected to the download page, therefore causing a lot of support requests. With ClickBank you won't have that headache.

Any statistics to back this up?

      Thanks,

Only my own usage and sales of 850+ in a short period of time. It's not that RAP is the problem. The problem is the different types of accounts that PayPal has and I found that different paying countries were handled differently and were not redirected back to my download page. Either the country or the type of account they held would mess up that final redirection. It was a huge pain and messy to deal with. I've learned from it and stay clear of using PayPal when dealing with large number of orders with automatic delivery.

Thanks for that insight Gary. So do you use CB for products you expect to have huge numbers? CB takes too big of a cut, imo

If you have no, or very few, relationships with others in your market right now then don't worry about a launch for now.

Just put your product up for sale and gradually build relationships and recruit JVs and affiliate partners.

There's little difference in the long run if you make 1,000 sales in one week with a product launch or 1,000 sales over the course of a few months - except you won't have the stress associated with putting together a product launch, you won't have to deal with hundreds of support requests within a couple of days, you can gradually tweak your offer as you go along and many more benefits.

I think too many people have been sucked into wanting to do product launches, but if you're just starting out, and even if you're experienced, a product launch can be a huge hassle and a LOT can go wrong.

As to the argument regarding RAP vs Clickbank, I answered this EXACT question put forward to me by one of my blog readers in question 2 at:

Thanks guys for the information. James, have you had problems with buyers not being redirected to the download page like Gary? I think I will setup a RAP sales page for full price ($47 frontend + $77 upsell + $27.95/month membership) and at the same time launch a WSO for something like $7 bucks for the first 50 or so people so that real people can review the product. I have full 100% faith that the product works because its the exact system I've used myself for the past 3 years. Should I go that far to get reviews? Thanks!

Sometimes customers aren't redirected. I'm not sure if this is something they do wrong or if it's RAP not working. Anyway, it's not enough to cause too many headaches.

My major problem (which is self-inflicted) is that I often get emailes from customers saying that their download link has expired. I had my link set to 48 hours and I didn't realise how many people didn't download their product straight away so I've had a lot of emails asking me to send them a new one.

This is easily fixed though by simply setting your download limit to more than 48 hours.

Going back to RAP vs CB as an AFFILIATE perspective...

I'd USUALLY rather promote RAP if it's in the IM market because there is no commission theft and I can get instant payment.

But if I was promoting a higher priced product at 50% commission and only expecting to send one or two sales, I'd rather promote CB since RAP works on a rotating payout structure - so the vendor would gets sale 1, affiliate gets sale 2 etc.

I'd be a bit annoyed if I only sent one or three sales.

BTW, if you need help setting up your RAP site, ask John (globalpro above) to do it for you. He's very, very fast and his prices are very reasonable.

James, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond in such great detail. Come to think of it, I too, received a few emails regarding expired links. Hopefully I can remember to set it longer when I launch. Do you think launching a wso for my product at a very low price point will increase affiliates?

Definitely, I did 670 sales with my last WSO with 90% coming through affiliates.

That gave me the leverage (conversion data, visitor value, testimonials) to launch to the public and recruit JV partners.
