Hey guys,

I thought I'd come here and share some news. I've learned a shed load of info from this forum, really got me going on making money of the internet - although i am quite lucky that my day job is designing and building websites , so i have an advantage.

Anyways - thank you all for your invaluable advice over the months.

I have been testing out several blogs over the past 8 or so months - most of them i have binned as nothing really came from them, though i kept 1 blog which is making me a good $30 a day and has been pretty much since the start. I have another blog i am working on that will sell an ebook - but that's a different story...

About 6 months back i started a new blog which i set up with popup domination on the front page. I created posts on a weekly basis and used forums on topic to gain traffic (basically replying to posts and linking to my blog with an indepth tailored answer , a 'tutorial' if you like)... I have just over 3000 email addresses now. I'd been sending out emails with invaluable info to the list, again on a weekly basis... to be honest i had no product to sell for this blog but i wanted to keep up the relationship. This went really well and i've become a bit of an authority on the topic now, and get many requests from people for stuff relating to my blog as well as loads of natural link backs from other similar topic blogs.

Well last week i spent a few hours making a product to sell, which i sent out on Sunday to all 3,000 or so subscribers.

In 3 days i have earned $2070.00 USD ! I can't believe it!!

I want to keep it up, but i don't want them to get tired of me sending out mails asking them to buy stuff.

How can i balance this ... i would love to be making that on a weekly basis, but am scared I'll just come across as a spammer or that was my only intention.

Any tips for keeping this up?

Also if anyone has any questions - shoot!
I would like to help others as i was helped here.

First off, congratulations on your success

I don't believe in having a rigid schedule for promoting products to your email lists. As long as you provide your list with enough value, when you come across a good affiliate product that you think your list will benefit from, send it to them! Hell, send them two a day if you feel like it. As long as you always overdeliver on value and give them exactly what they want, they will be happy to open your emails and their wallets.

How to find out exactly what they want? Ask them.

Congrats n thanks for sharing. How long did it take to build the list of 3k and was your traffic entirely from forum marketing?

    Thanks

If you are somehow an authority I would recommend that you try to make a cheap membership site, let's say 5 bucks a month, and offer 50% commission for referrals.

Inside that membership site you can offer additional products.

Give good content to your freebie list, and save the WOW content for the members.

A 5 bucks membership site can change your life ;-)

That is very impressive. Building a list can be worth a lot of money to you over time. I agree with some of the others that you should not bombard the list all the time, but when you do........present to them an offer they just can resist.

Congratulations on your success! Keep giving them value. It seems like you spent some time building your list. You may have spent around 7 months building trust with your list by offering them value. It sure is nice to get paid for your hard earned efforts of course but I wouldn't start bombarding them with your products.

Every list and the relationship is different for every marketer. You will have to use your gut as to the best way to approach your list.

I personally would give the list one full month of value and then offer your product. Keep up the good work.

Would know more about how to answer if I knew what you were selling. A person can sell anything if they believe in the product, which you clearly do. If you are making 3k that quickly, why would you stop? You go until the money dries up! Who cares what other people think?

    Congratulations on your success.

That said, my suggestion is as long as you don't send out too many mails a week, you'll be fine. Some people abuse their lists by emailing their offers 1 or 2 times a day. That's bad marketing. I've unsubscribed to all such lists. Once or twice a week is fine for me. In between these offer mails, you can also give them helpful tips. And I mean helpful tips on your niche.

Don't be just promoting. Do give them what they signed up for.

    Good luck!

Congratulations on making that $2000+ off your list! It sounds like your consistent work and determination is starting to pay off, and you're reaping the rewards now.

I think that sending them an email once a week or so isn't being overly pushy, and what you can do is take the 'soft' approach to promoting products - instead of sending out emails that just focus on selling a product, deliver some good value/advice in your email and then promote a product that is relevant/helpful to the topic in question. This way you aren't perceived as just trying to ram something down your subscribers' throats, instead you're seen as helpful, considerate and thoughtful.

Mix up your emails with some great content, refer people to other posts you have made and how that might be helpful for them or a video/article/tutorial you have found that might interest them and every so on an offer for something that would be relevant to them

    That's awesome man congratulations.

Give more content than offers, depending on how much info you give I would do a 3:1 content to offer ratio.

For every 3 quality posts feel free to slip an offer.
Here is a great FREE resource that I found recently by Andy Jenkins, great training, with videos and all that seem to be more on your business model. beginnersluck.andyjenkinsblog.com

Also, a good model for you to step it up a notch might be a Nano-Continuity By Ryan Lee, this one is not free but it is insanely affordable, this might be a good fit for you since you already have a decent responding list.

The link for that is: DCH1503.SPORTSCOM.hop.clickbank.net (Naturally that is my affiliate link) but if that's not cool with you not problem, here is the link where no one gets a commission: nanocontinuity.com

I just want you to see the product because it might benefit you whether I make a commission or not.

    Hope that helps.

    Well done!

Forums are underrated as a traffic source. But you can get 1000's of visitors from a popular forum, by keeping it on-topic and not spammy.

I am not sure how to answer your question, it kind of depend on your market and your relationship with the list.

If you can offer them things where it over delivers versus the price, e.g. a product "worth" $50 for $25, and good free quality content (just keep answering their questions) I can't see why this isn't repeatable.

Perhaps create a membership site (can be as simple as a private forum) and see if you can get continual fees too, so you don't need to 'keep selling' as much to make the same amount of money.

Congrats on your success!!! I'm a once a week emailer to my list as well. I pretty much send out 3 quality emails or free products to every promotional one. This has worked well for me.

I think next month I might step up the promotional emails to 2:2 to see what I get.

      Great job again!!!

Congratulations! Good work! Now ask them for feed back. What did they LIKE about the ebook? What did they not like? What did they think was missing? Etc. You can do just a "reply to this email" kind of survey, or go set something up at SurveyMonkey: Free online survey software & questionnaire tool.

Just keep interacting with them, keep delivering the content that brought them there in the first place, and keep asking questions. They will tell you what to do next.

      Great job!

It sounds like you've built a good relationship with the list and they trust you. Naturally you don't want to abuse it by overdoing the promotional emails.

Another good approach is soft-selling as Paulie888 suggested. One way to do this is to try out tools, products or software and show your results as a case study on your blog (with your affiliate link). This is a very soft approach and your readers will appreciate you sharing the bits and pieces that are working for you.

The answer is quite simple - Increase the list x4 and you'll be able to send out just one promo per month and yield the same results as sending 4 promos to your current list...

Just keep focusing on the list building. Reinvest the money that you've made to grow that list. Speculate to accumulate.

I tried using the discussion groups but I was confused about how it works and stuff. If you can help me with that, I would be very grateful. Other than a web page that you can customize your forum? And then it creates a html code for you?

I want to collect opinions and suggestions from different people. So please cooperate with me.

    congrats on ur success.

$2070 in 3 days is very impressive and that goes to show how email marketing is so important.

Sure you can make tons of money without an opt-in but you're simply leaving TOO MUCH money on the table without it!

Congratulations on your success and I would continue to provide you list with weekly updates if you can and then promote your products along with those emails to your list.

I would send out weekly emails giving them free content on w/e your blog is on etc. and maybe 2 times a month send an email selling something. So, send one email in the beginning of the month selling something ..give them 2 weeks of free content or w/e and at the end of the month send another product.

Congrats on the results, as you have found out the trick is in the relationship first, and the sale later, you can keep on doing this, selling a product once in a while, but maintaining that relationship in the meantime

It's fine to send out emails often to your list selling things. Just make sure that what you're selling is of good quality. I don't care about getting promotional emails as long as I know the recommendation comes from someone who is truly trying to help me. Your reputation is everything. It seems like you have a good reputation so try to keep that up. Be honest about your intentions and your followers will welcome your emails.

Well Done! Great to hear such a good news.

From my point of view, sometime you think too much
is not healthy to you, don't do too much assumption,
just do it if you think is right,
as there isn't any right or wrong ways.

    Good luck.
