ALT tag question!

I have searched around and did not see anything so am i correct in assuming that we dont use ALT tags with videos?

    I think that's correct, never heard of anyone using ALT outside of images.

      I only just recently learnt about using my keywords in the alt tags. I had 4 sites up and running before I found this out. I had to sit through each site and SEO it.
      What a pain, but I think it was worth it in the long run, although as of yet I haven't seen any major SERP jumps.

    Alt tags are used to describe the thing that for some reason can't be shown. Most marketers use the tag for keyword stuffing but the main purpose is for users who can't see images/video to still know what's going on.

    Alt tags can be used on video if you think the majority of your visitors can't see video.

      I knew about them being for things that cant be shown mostly, but i think theyre also for the search engines to be told what the image is since the crawlers cant read the image. I was just wondering if i could tell the search engines what the videos content is and to be credited for that being relevant to my site. Ok thanks!
