Reason for purchasing multiple domain endings/one website?

okay... this is embarrassing, but I've spent last hour on WF trying to find the answer and am coming up empty-handed.

So...here goes:

Is there a good reason for purchasing multiple domain endings for the same website? :confused:

  • It is only important to get the major TLDs (.com, .net .org), if you're building a website that you intend to keep long term, or one that you're trying to brand. This prevents others from registering them.

    Otherwise, just the .COM is all you need.

    • Thanks Gene! Yes, my intention is to keep long term and build a brand. I was curious to know if there were any other benefits to purchasing multiple domain endings other than preventing others from registering.
