Please help with accepting payment

Hi Warriors,

I am still in the process of setting up my website which will
have my payment and recurring billing options.

But in the meantime I have my first offline client (yay me!)
and they want me to send them an invoice immediately.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I can send them
an invoice for the initial payment and for the monthly recurring
billing to start one month later?

I have called Paypal, but they were as useless as tits on a bull.

Thanks,
Angela

What you could do is send them 2 invoices, 1 for the instant payment and 1 for the monthly payment. It is probably easier than trying to do both on the same invoice on PayPal

      Thanks Andrew,

Could you give me a quick rundown or pointers how to the recurring billing?
The Invoice is just Request Money I believe.

        By the way...

Is there any real difference to you or the client if it is set up
as Recurring Billing or if it is set up as a Subscription? The end
        result is the same, no?

    Angela:

    1. Log into paypal.

    2. Click on Merchant Services.

    3. Hit the Buy Now button (this creates an html button you can send them via email)

    4. Select 'Automatic Billing' from the payment type drop down menu, and follow the instructions.

    5. Copy the created html code, paste it into wordpad for use later, and save that document as 'clientname_payment_button.txt'

    6. When you goto send them the request for payment, simply do a cut and paste of the html into the email you are sending them, hit send on the email client, and you're done.

    Simple enough?

      Thanks Floyd,

I see I need to set up a Business Account to do this.
And I don't yet have all the website info to fill in...

Can I just do a subscription in the meantime, would
      that work?

        Thanks Joe,

I fumbled around with Paypal and sent an invoice and then
set up a subscription payment and sent the link.

        Thanks for all your help.

Yes, you do need a business account. You can't do a subscription (violation of PayPal Terms of Service), the client has to do it.
