And I Thought I Was Slacking

I've been getting onto myself this last week because I feel like I haven't been working as hard as I could be, as I've only been writing 6 articles a day as opposed to the 8 that I feel I should be writing. All articles that I write are between 400 - 1,700 words long. Out of curiosities sake, I did a search on the forum for a thread about 'how many articles do you write a day?' I was surprised to find that most people write between 1 - 3 articles a day, either for their websites or article marketing.

My question to all of you article marketers out there is . . . if you're only writing between 1 - 3 articles a day, then what are you doing with the rest of your day?

By the way, I'm not accusing anyone of slacking. After reading that article thread I was thinking that maybe I'm actually working harder than I give myself credit for, even when I feel like I'm slacking off.

I have a full time job running the household and looking after my two kids who are both under 5. I am lucky if I get to write 1 article some days. I think what you're doing is very productive. Also I find the more I push myself with writing, the faster I burn out and get writer's block.

Yeah - if I had all day everyday then I'd probably get 6-8 done, but I think that even then it would become burn-out material.

As it is I am lucky to get 20+ hours a week, on a good day I get 3 articles out. The rest of the time is spent here, researching, learning, spinning and submitting.

It probably also helps that I do this full time. It makes more sense for people who do IM part time to only write 1 - 3 articles a day. I think the question is more geared towards those who do IM full time but only write 1 - 3 articles a day.

I probably should have also stated that the articles I write aren't all in the same niche. I write 1 article for 2 different niches and then 4 - 6 articles for another niche.

I prefer to think in 'words' rather than articles because an article length is quite variable.

That said I do pump out more than "1-3" articles per day when you look at my word count. The rest of my day is spent learning, reading, tweaking, tinkering, and, most importantly, thinking and creating!

I'm constantly brainstorming and generating ideas...an idea is the highest leverage thing we can create, so I don't miss the chance to produce them.

It depends. The number of articles one writes each day or week is irrelevant.

I can pop out one "400 word vomit" every 7 minutes... or I can sometimes take hours, the entire day, or even longer to write a literary piece which is envied by my competitors and they wish they had written something like that. You just can't put a number on it.
