      I'm going to throw TAKE ACTION into the ring, because without that you're just watching from the sidelines. After taking some action, you'll figure out if you're on the right track or need to self-correct, but don't stop moving forward.

    The person who makes all of the important business decisions - the leader. Like the quarterback is the most important position in football, and the point guard is the most important position in basketball, the individual who makes all of the critical business decisions is the most important element of a business operation.

    You can have all the assets in the world, but if those assets aren't utilized properly, they simply won't be as effective.

    I've got to agree with settingsail... above all else, you need passion. You need a passion for the niche you're in (after all, promoting yourself and your product can become downright miserable if you're not that interested in it).

    You also need a passion for understanding your target audience (what do they want? What do they need? What's the best way to reach them? What do you offer them that no one else does?)

    You also need a passion for the "little things". Everything you do may not be fun, but it's all important. Handling the little things is what separates the true professionals from the wannabes. Building a business is hard work, and you'll need to handle every responsibility professionally if you want to succeed.
