How do you build A List?

Everyone is always talking about building your list I am new and I just want to know what is the best way to drive traffic to your website and build your list. I have heard many things but I cant seem to get any to work for me, any advice will help. Thanks

    1. Build a website that offers a free bonus that's in your niche (report, ebook, software, video, whatever...) to its visitors.
    2. Make your visitors subscribe their email address and name to get the bonus.

        1) Promote it on Twitter & Facebook
        2) SEO your Landing page. Find perfect keywords and rank your LP on google for them.
        3) Use PPC traffic.

        There are various ways to do this, a good look through the threads on this forum will help you out no end.
        To name a few, you can write articles, post in forums with your signature on show like you have here and create backlinks to your site by posting on other peoples blogs. You can also pay for traffic or pay for advertising (ppc) to direct people to your site.

        You want to rank #1 for your keyword. Once your site appears on top in google visitors will come.

        Another way is through paid advertising, like Google Adwords. Make and add in Google and drive traffic to your page.

          I'm surprised no one has even mentioned ezine solo ads. It is a very powerful traffic generating method, and has a much lower learning curve than any other marketing technique. In addition, many of these ezine publishers are hungry for relevant content. Writing articles for targeted ezines is a free method for generating high quality traffic.

      Get an account with Aweber ($1 first month) or Get Response

      You really don't even need a website to do make a squeeze page. Go through the aweber tutorial on how to make a squeeze page and they can host it for you. have fun and get creative.

      Go to google and type in "Free PLR + your niche". example "FREE PLR WEGHT LOSS"

      Sign up for their list and you will get free books to brand in your name:

      This will show you what you can give away in order to build your list depending on the niche you are going after.

      Submit articles at Ezine articles, hubpages, about.com squidoo
      Post a signature link on forums that are related to your niche

      Keep on studying. You will learn this business as long as you want to bad enough

    The easiest (and cheapest!) method I've found is to join active forums in your niche, make helpful posts, and eventually start promoting your list in your signature. If you can become active in 3 or 4 forums you'll build a decent list in no time.

    You are correct in that traffic does have to come
    from somewhere. One way to do that is to partner
    with others and cross-promote each others on your
    thank you pages and/or confirmation emails.

    Knowing that your list members are going to be on
    multiple lists, and are going to visiting many sites,
    why not send your new subscribers and visitors to
    others who are also sending you new visitors or
    subscribers.

    Just find a few others in your niche who target a
    similar audience and arrange to do cross-promote
    each other. This probably won't grow your list at
    hyper-speed but it will grow it at 2-3 times as
    fast.

    This is one of the things I recently blogged
    about where I jokingly called it a 3-way as a play
    on words.
