Newbie Soapbox: Why we get info overload

1st of all, let me say how glad I am to have found this forum!!! Between the awesome WSO's and info from the posts, the learning curve is greatly reduced. Once a newbie learns what all the acronyms stand for he realizes what he needs to know more about (everything).
Now it starts to get "dangerous". There seems to be 2 paths that a newbie can take. 1 is to purchase seperate products to do specific things (seo, ppc, plr, etc) or try to find an "all in one" course that is simple enough for a newbie to implement, but thorough enough to do justice to all topics (difficult for $7.00,lol).
SOOO..speaking for myself anyway, I start to purchase things that, based on the awesome sales letters, will give me exactly what I need to actually DO SOMETHING. I pour through the vids or pdf's only to find that I need 10 more things to sctually accomplish what the sales letter said that I could. Or, find, sadly, that the whole course was useless and then have to fight the guilt and shame of asking for a refund. I know it is a necessary "evil", but even before you get your download of your latest purchase, you are hit with 12 new affilliate offers to distract you.
Enough ranting! Here is what I (and maybe most newbies) need:
A course or product that really shows the nuts and bolts of step by step..buy a domain, secure hosting, do I use a WP or real site platform, what are the offers that give me cut & paste headers, video frames, etc. I wouldn't mind bying multiple products (especially at the reasonable prices here) if they complemented each other and followed a blueprint to get me online with a functioning site that didn't look like crap and that wouldn't rank on Google's 40th page. Does something like this exist and I'm missing it? Would love your thoughts...

It's a basic newbie expectation - to be given all the tools that will take you step by step until you are successful. It's a great dream - but it's a dream.

Even if everyone had the same exact huge list of detailed steps - many would fail because they would skip steps, do them halfway, do them wrong, interpret the instructions wrong, etc.

You sort of have the right list - choose a domain, get a site online - but first read enough to know WHAT you want to accomplish with your site - HOW you plan to make money - WHAT niche you will work in.....

And each one of those little topics can be mastered with searches on this forum - and online - and often learned for free. Yes, there are some good WSOs that will help but buying countless make-money WSOs is a trap of its own.

If you choose affiliate marketing - there are good products that can help you learn the details and move forward. If you choose adsense, same thing. If you want to create your own products, that's a somewhat different learning curve and there are great products teaching that, too.

It may be the biggest step for a newbie - you have to stop looking for "something or someone" that tells you what to do. Instead, decide what you need to learn and go looking for that information only.

Choose your method - choose your niche - learn about domains and get a domain - and keep going.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

You're right to feel frustrated. When I first got into the business many years ago there were even less tools and courses available. In fact, one of my colleagues took a $4,000 course from UCSF which was truly useless. One source of good data about what to do is watch the videos on Market Samurai. I don't remember if you have to pay and buy the product first or not, but if not, these videos really do a great job of laying out the framework for Internet marketing. Also register for OfferVault for free. Then you can get into some free seminars as well. Good luck!

Another thing... This Internet stuff can be complicated. And you don't need to learn everything all at once.

Focus on the fundamentals; then start adding to your knowledge as you go along.

Without the basic fundamentals like keyword research or the SEO basics, you are never going to get off the ground.

However, you need to start somewhere. And remember, you don't have to get it perfect; you just need to get it going...

Learning the fundamentals of how to set up a website and how to drive traffic is the most important thing here.

Forget all the ebooks about making you rich overnight

forget anything that makes ridiculous income claims.

      You will need 3 things.

      You will need a website
      autoresponder
      and a possible budget

You will then figure out what niche you want to get into.

Only focus on one thing so you don't get burned out too easily.

Give yourself 3-6 months before money is even made. You are starting a business so this needs a business model and serious planning.
