    The # of backlinks?

You can check out SEO for Firefox, pluggin on SEObook

    or

    For google do a search:

    link:http://yourdomain.com/thepage.htm

    or use "Yahoo Site Explorer"
    https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites

Type in your address, and then click "inlinks"; show inlinks "Except from this domain"...

    Hope that helps...

Most of these sites won't give you all your backlinks. The best site to see the sheer number of backlinks is the Yahoo Site Explorer. Go to Yahoo Search and type in linkdomain:www.yoursite.com. This will give you the number of backlinks you have. Many backlink checkers just don't show them all. I don't know why.

I use SEO Elite and like it. Otherwise, I also go to Yahoo and use: linkdomain:www.yoursite.com

Just for basic research and counts, I use "link:www.yourdomain.com" in AltaVista. It's the only thing I use that search engine for.

Also, be sure to check "link:yourdomain.com". That can sometimes give you different results.

Whatever you do, don't go by the number of backlinks google is showing. They only show part of what they have for you. Why that is, we'll never know!

SEO Elite, here. It will show you backlinks from several search entities. i.e. Google, AltaVista, Yahoo, MSN, etc...

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!
