I have just setup my newest site and first into the health/weight loss field. The site is up at Market Health Reports.

I appreciate any help/suggestions.

Thanks.

  • Hi Bruha,

    a few design suggestions:
the content width spreads to the width of the browser.
If someone has a huge monitor that's not good.

Usability studies have shown that shorter lines are easier to read.
The easier to read, the longer people browse your site.
Through CSS or table formatting you can create minimum and maximum widths for the content.

One other thing to check is how to make best use of the different parts of the screen.

Due to centering your content the left side of the screen is mostly empty.
That is however the part of the screen that gets the most attention.

    2 ways to fix it:
    - move the menu to the left hand site to get more click throughs to other pages of your site. OR
    - make the content, for example reviews, align left to increase reading of those.

  • I am not sure what feedback u wanted but i felt its a bit... err.. dull... no offense. Can do some tuning up a lil
  • So I'm wondering if this site would be best served in a blog format?

    • I think that might be the solution. It does not have enough info for my liking, aside from the comments above. I also find it very difficult to read and cumbersome.

Check out the copy writing forum for advice about copy. It needs some oomph.

      Hope this helps,

      God bless

  • It looks like its upside down... Your Hoodia Gordonnii section should be at the bottom of the page and the Health and Beauty Supplements Review section should be at the top of the page.. Just flip flop the page..

    • Thats what I thought as well. Everything looked backwards. I feel its a good start.

  • If I convert this site into a blog format:

    1. Anyone have a template that would work well with something like this

    2. Do I just delete all the pages I have an install WP? Or do I leave them and do a redirect of some kind to the new blog page? If this is the case, I need some help. hehe.
  • I think the page could pop, but you need a catchy graphic where the lead capture form is.
I noticed that you do not have adsense, so I am guessing the entire idea is to collect leads.
If this is the case, than get the lead form to really stand out.

As for the blog, you can find some awesome free themes, and I would keep the content on the site, install the blog and then just start adding the content to the blog. After all content has been added, delete all the pages, and set up a 404 error page that redirects to the index of the blog.

Here is a free wp theme.

  • You have 4 pages indexed with Google right now. It would be very easy to put up a blog (and yes you will be able to find a suitable template - do a search), put this content on the new blog and then do redirects from each old to the new pages.

Or I would just leave those pages and create similar ones on the new blog site and just redirect your main url. That way when someone types in your main url they are taken the blog instead of the current index page.
This option is probably your best (other than wipeing the slate clean and starting over). Your website isn't old enough for a new start to have a detrimental effect on traffic.
However these 4 pages you just created may get some good organic ranking - time will tell.
At any rate - Google has the pages so I would install Wordpress in a folder (with a short name) and get busy putting together a website with good content and substance.
Make sure you put a link from those 4 pages to the new blog.
Google will pick up the blog pages quickly.

You have a good domain name. Maximize it.

    Hope that helps
  • I agree a blog would be good, I would just create a blog and then copy your content into your blog pages. I wouldn't do it so much as posting to a blog, but use a Wordpress format but have static pages so its more like a site than a blog.
  • Oh one more thing - if you do a Wordpress static site you can also have a blog page so you can also post to it like a blog - to help build up content without adding a thousand pages.

You can have your main pages as static pages and then post articles to the blog.

I hope that's not too confusing, but it is quite simple to do. Here is a site I set up for one of my customers bestonlinetoyshop.com - Toys On-A-BUDGET if you take a look you will see a link to he blog. The site itself is a Wordpress site using static pages, but she also has the blog in there too (she hasn't posted to it as yet, but you can see what I mean though)
  • Check out my updated look at Market Health Reports.

Let me know what you think. Should i put up some adsense or just stick with the CPA offers?

    • Wow... I wish I would have gotten to see your original version... because this updated site looks very slick. It looks like you took all of the good advice given above and put it into action.

Congrats, very nice looking site. (I'm sure there are little tweaks you can do here and there, but overall it gave me a very good first impression immediately as soon as I saw the site.)

  • Do you think this site needs some adsense? Or are the CPA deals going to profit better for me over time ?
  • I'd stick with the cpa as they pay better than adsense

You also have a good visual balance on the site and adsense will screw it up

  • I'm using the REvolution Lifestyle theme on the site. Yea, I think I'll keep the adsense off for now.

Also, what would be the best way to capture email addresses on a site like this? I was thinking of giving away an ebook in exchange and then having an autoresponder series that had a weight loss pill in each message.

Or would it be better to say something like, 'sign up for our weekly weight loss tips direct to your email'?

    Thanks.
  • bump. I need more advice. Site is still not converting any sales during Feb.

    Thanks.
  • Hey - I am using Chrome 2.0 and the layout is completely broken. The two main columns that ought to be on the left are all the way down, and the website looks ... catastrophic in my case.
