Factors in deciding a Wordpress Theme?

Besides appearance of the theme, what kinds of factors do you look for before you decide to use that theme? (Currently looking for a theme for alternative energy) But are there advantages to 2 column, 3 column, etc etc.

I just don't want to pick a theme and then have to rearrange everything because I screwed up in the beginning.

    I guess, ready adsense theme would be one of the factors since most of peoples making money from advertising revenue.

    I also wondered this as well and im looking for a theme for a cars related blog. Adsense would be an option i consider so i need a adsense free wp theme.

    but my suggestion is to always get a premium theme

    You've already spent too much time thinking about it IMO.

    Grab something and use it, you shouldn't have to customize that much in terms of the actual code (if anything at all) so no matter what you do you'd really just have to rearrange widgets at the most if you choose to switch themes. That's part of the reason WP rocks.

    Appearance should be the last thing you should worry about. Despite the general belief... visitors don't really care.

    Use the default TwentyTen that comes with the standard WP package. It has more features than you can learn in a week
