Where do draw the line for posts on your blog.

My wife recently built a new blog.

She's getting a lot of people posting articles and comments.
Some of the posts are good and some are crap.
I delete the crap ones, of course.
They all contain links to the posters' site.

My feeling is I leave the good articles in and leave the links intact.
But, I add a link to my squeeze page below the article.

Any opinions or thoughts?

  • I'm not a huge SEO guy and other will be able to comment on this with more knowledge but it is my understanding that it does do your site some good to have outbound links.

If I did get comments or articles that were something more than spam I would post them untouched. That is just me though and others may have differing opinions.
  • I don't quite understand. Does your wife allow everybody to post articles to her site, without any kind of sign-in? Or are you just talking about comments here?

Anyway, comments-wise, I've always just deleted all obvious spam from my comments sections -- including comments that say "Nice post!," then include a link to their page or product.

    Lotta work.
  • Another option would be to set your blog so that you moderate the comments before they are published on the site. This helps with spammers and those who place lots of their own links in the post.
