Am I in the WRONG Niche???

Hello fellow warriors,

For the last two years I have been working very hard in the dating/attraction/seduction niche. I been working hard on building a list and have to say I pretty much lost money. It hasn't been profitable at all.

The reason I been focusing on this niche is because I know a lot about it and have a passion for it.

However, I beginning to realize it may be over saturated and very difficult to crack.

So question is am i just in the wrong niche?

Are there easier niches to get into to make money? I am getting a feeling this is full of freebie seekers. Also I got very low open rates for my e-mails.

Any better niches to recommend?

I want to feel like I'm moving forward. I spent a lot of time on IM and list building and don't want it be because I am in the WRONG niche that is causing me to fail so far.

Thanks,

Mark

If you could describe what exactly you have been doing to build your list and market to people in this niche, then maybe I could give you a better answer to that question

This is a very lucrative niche, however extremely competitive. Although not doing this particular niche myself, there are marketers making six figures a month just selling the tens of thousands of Clickbank and Amazon books on the subject.

Sounds like you have been building your list by giving away freebies. This is the wrong approach to use in any such market with high demand products. Without knowing the specific products you're selling, you perhaps should sell them direct from your website. There is no need at all to build a list of free loaders in a market of high demand products. Build a list of buyers.

I suggest you research for more niches like games, health, work from home etc that you may find interesting. You may also stick with your first niche but make a better list.

Interesting- people are making six figures a month in this niche? They are also making money selling amazong books?

Yes that is exactly what I been doing, building the list by giving away freebies.

What do you mean by selling direct from my website? U mean set something up like a review site? But if that is the case, how do I build a list of buyers? As the buyers list will go to the vendor not the affiliate?

Instead of giving them your report for free, sell it. Include your affiliate link(s) in the report, and hit them up with additional promotions and products along with valuable content or reviews in your followup messages.

it makes sense what you are saying
but how could one know that their audience are free loaders or buyers?
i think the reason why he's building a list is because everyone says that the list is in the money

here is the idea i have.....
how about have a squeeze page, once they put their info in they are immediately directed to a sales page. that way you have their info for future sales and they are buying right away.

        idk
        would that be better?

Thanks Zena- Yes that is EXACTLY why I am building a list, as they say the money is in the list. Also I feel I send them directly to the sales page, I will be losing a lot of prospects. I want to get the most out of each visitor, and I guess the best way to do that is by building a list.

I think this might work. I am going to give it a try.

I would love to see evidence/links/etc of marketers making six figures a month in this niche, because that seems high. As you say, this niche is one of the most competitive, and there is SO MUCH free info available, that the numbers just don't stack up in my head.

While I'm not interested in this niche, I would love to see case studies or ideas as to how one could tackle such a competitive market.

The six figure monthly earning figure I mentioned is only the people I know. Do a google search for "dating" and "seduction". Just the expense for maintaining top ranking makes six figures look like pocket change.

Then do a search for "dating" and "seduction" in the Clickbank marketplace. Then do a search for "dating" and "seduction" in Amazon for books. The numbers should start stacking up for you.

With suggested changes, the OP is on the right track for cracking this niche.

I assume you're targeting guys? I know that I had a tough time in this niche and selling to guys in particular at first. In my experience, they are very different than selling to women.

Getting them on a list is great but don't hold back or try to be PC. Make them think with their little head and think like a steel worker instead of a pastery chef.

Thanks Ange- I been primarily using article marketing to generate traffic (mostly through ezine). I been taking visitors to a squeeze page where I offered them a free report. I then provide them with an autoresponder series, a mini-course, providing them with good content. During that series I'll pitch my affiliate link. I get very few sales and a low open rate. Any tips would be much appreciated...

  • So any other views? Is dating/attraction the WRONG niche to be in?
