Does a Blog/website need a squeeze page?

Does my blog/website need some sort of squeeze page or landing page? I was under the impression that blogs did not need that, because the homepage was a sort of landing page.
What do you think?
#blog or website #page #squeeze

For me I don't use a squeeze page with my product blogs. I know, however, some people I have seen are using a combination squeeze page to capture names and leads on a list and their content on the formal blog platforms.

I think it all depends on your product and your target customer. What they are looking for and what that particular market is doing a lot of right now.

Oh ok, well I was asking for product ideas on another thread and someone mentioned that it doesn't matter what the free report is as long as my sqeeze page is pitching it properly. So that confused me because I had stated I had a blog/website.

Where they talking about your ability to use PPC or just in general?

I think the answer really depends on your objective. Are you building a list or simply trying to send them immediately somewhere else? If you are in the building stage than less "sales" and more content certainly helps.

I've never found that setting up a squeeze page or an opt-in page worked for me. No one ever seemed interested enough to sign up so I quit trying.

It is a good idea to have optin form on your blog if you want to build a list. Every blog post you create can be optimize for SEO ranking. So new people who find your blog will also be able to optin from your squeeze form. More traffic means more optins

You can use a footer popup or and exit popup to make a special offer, like a free report and then collect the name and emails. You can also have a sign up box on the home page of your blog. You need to build your list.

I have a pop up on my blog and squeeze page which receives captures names for a list. The list is ticking along.
Sometimes everything is a learning curve.

I HATE exit pop-ups. Seriously. I will never put one on my site, simply because I look at my site to make sure everything is working now and again.

BTW nice signature Joel. Its still racism, just doggy racism. Personally I love pit bulls (I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and we got them in all the time) and someday when I have a yard I will adopt one!

Francie, how do you use the squeeze page on your blog? I think I will have to try something like that.
But I already have a sidebar sign up thing and when I create a product I will put a lightbox on the home page too.

It depends on the purpose of your website.

There is no right or wrong answer or must have for any website.

Figure out the purpose of your website is and develop it accordingly.

It really depends on how you are using your website. There are a lot of 'websites' setup to act similar to 'blogs'. The main idea for a squeeze pages is putting an opt-in form infront of the visitor. If you're blog already does that, I don't believe it's needed. However, with that said...the more opportunities a visitor has to join your list - the better your chances.

    To Your Success,
