I too have same question, what i need to know and to do before starting affiliating the amazon products?

I know we cannot use brand names of product and amazon itself.

Am promoting 2 products for last few days got only 8 clicks as per amazon tracking report. How many clicks i need to count to get my first sale? What you do for conversion?

    Hi,
First will answer your second question. As per my knowledge it is very risky to use product or brand name in the Domain. You have to follow the privacy policy. That is why I suggest that avoiding such domain is good policy. Using brand names in your domain have one more problem. If that brand gets unpopular then your sites sells also get slowed down and one time it stops. So, try to get domain for general term. Such as not buy Applecomputer.com (if it is available) insted of that you can have smartcomputers.com etc.

Secondly, you can start Amazon site buy keyword searching and finding micro micro niche so that you should have very low competition. You can gather information by googling.

This is absolutely true. I just signed up as an Amazon Associate yesterday, so the rules are still clearly in my mind - and they specified that they will not approve any account with a brand name (such as Amazon, Kindle, etc.) in the domain name.

There is often nothing to be gained by trying to use brand name urls anyway because inevitably, the manufacturer whose name you are using will send you a take-down notice aand all your work will be lost.

If you are new to Amazon marketing, I suggest you get Jan Roos' course, The Physical Affiliate. Daniel Brock also has (I believe) two Amazon tutorials. Both are fellow Warriors.

  • If you can afford it, get Deadbeat affiliate, Jan's course, Amazonian profit plan and chris guthrie's guide too. They are all very similar and aim at doing the same thing at the end of the day, but in different ways.

Reading them all gives you numerous ways to look at things and go about them. You can still do really well with just reading one, but they are all worth getting for one reason or another.

Tip, you may get a sale within a few clicks, and you may then not see a sale after a lot more clicks. It's just how it is; it'll sort itself out over-time.

    For example:-

I got my first sales within the first 30 clicks. I've now had 88 clicks and no sale at all.

But then they started again. Don't be alarmed, and try to work out the issue.

In-terms of the branding, you could go ahead and buy a branded domain, earn some moola, and then have Amazon find out, withold your earnings and kick you off the program - And just maybe, if they feel like it, they could go ahead and then tell the brand whos name you're using.

Or the brand could find out, chuck out a C/D, and report it to Amazon.

It says in the guides mentioned above that you don't need a brand name to rank better. Just get a generic term that relates to your products, write your reviews (quality reviews), and try to get them ranking.

Then you work on your conversions.

I followed Jan's course, too. It's awesome and super helpful for a newbie like me. He teaches you every aspect and shows you how to do step by step. Does anyone know how to post Jan's WSO here?

Well, I hope he's not that hard up these days that he can't afford a couple of WSOs!

But before you do too much, you may want to make sure you can still be an Amazon affiliate in California or wherever you're calling home.

I know they were talking about pulling their program for CA residents and they've already done so in several others.

    Here's my strategy

Pick a topic that you are interested in
Build a site in that topic with great value content and in depth reviews of amazon products.

Your reviews need to be unique, detailed and at least 700 words long. You need to help the reader decide whether or not they should buy the product, not just reprint the Amazon description on your site. Tell them about the pros and the cons, talk about what other people think of the product based on the reviews etc

It's hard to say how many clicks you need to make a sales as it depends on the product and the quality of your review.

If you are starting out then it is a good idea to invest in a course.

    Good luck

      > You are not allowed to use brand names in the top level domain, both according to Amazon and trademark law. You can, however, work brand names into lower levels of your url.

For example, you can't do KindleReviews (.) com, but you can do SiteName(.)com/reviews/kindle .

      > Conversions follow the Law of Large Numbers, meaning that over a large number of clicks you'll be able to predict a certain number of sales. But over short stretches you can't apply that rate.

Take the classic case of flipping a coin. Over a very large number of flips, you can expect the ratio of heads and tails to approach 50%. That doesn't mean that if you flip that coin 100 times you'll get 50 heads and 50 tails. For any 100-flip trial, any number from 100 heads to 100 tails is equally likely, since each coin flip is an independent event (the results of the previous flip have no effect on the current flip).

It's the same with Amazon clicks and sales. If you had a 1% conversion rate, it doesn't mean that 99 clicks without a sale guarantees that the next one will be a sale. Each click is an independent event. What happens if I click your link and buy or don't buy has no bearing on what happens with the next click.

What I like about Amazon is that people trust it instinctively. I can plaster "Buy from Amazon" buttons all over my website, and people won't come forward even once and call the links 'spammy'.

Further, Amazon has a wide variety of products. So if you can get a few clicks, there's a high chance you'll make a sale. I often end up selling products I'm not even remotely close to promoting.

There are two approaches to Amazon though - one is the low volume, micro niche site method. The other is the high volume, larger authority site method. I would say that you start off with an authority site in a broad keyword, and simultaneously, work on smaller micro niche sites within the broad keyword. This would allow you to mop up quite a bit of traffic

Nothing. You have goddesses and managers and a new intern to worry about that stuff for you.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I actually went with your advice and bought one of the programs by Joon Roos. It was really good, it was basic stuff but some small stuff that made me believe that its possible to make money on amazon, really great keyword research video!
