Hello,

Has anyone found Yahoo Answers to be effective in driving traffic to website/blogs etc?

Is it worth it?

Regards,

Yes it will be effective, but not as worth it if you think about the time you have to spend in order to get a very small traffic.

Thanks! That's what I thought and as I believe in the 80/20 rule....it probably should not be the sort of thing I should spend time on!!

Better write 2 more articles a day I suppose!

Yahoo Answers used to be popular a few years back, but honestly, now you'll be just wasting time with them. If you have a few cheap VAs, you can definitely squeeze some traffic out of them, but if you're starting out, there are better things you can do with your time than posting on Yahoo Answers.

Yes, it can be a very helpful source of quite highly targeted traffic - and the backlinks aren't bad, either.

You do have to get used to it, read the terms of service carefully (as always, of course, when posting on any site you don't own), and appreciate that there's a learning curve involved in it. As with many things, there's also some negativity around on the subject (perhaps partly from people who've managed to fall off that learning curve - which is quite easily done in this instance), but it can certainly be a very good traffic-source if wisely used.

I do still get some traffic from Yahoo Answers, but generally it isn't too much. I can see it working well if you put in the time and effort, but make sure not to be spamming your link or you will get banned very quickly. Just provide quality information when answering questions, and occasionally (if it's really relevant) put your link in. Just aim for a high Best Answer rating, it really helps in the long run!

Thanks Alexa! Oh don't know what to do now! Lol! Am already on level 3! Might as well carry on, it doesn't take that long to answer some of the questions so might be an option! I have found no really good forum for my particular niche so, maybe the answer is in the question! lol

Yahoo Answers is good for at least three things:

    - Building your reputation as an expert. If you have a great website that is a good resource then after a little while other people will be posting your link.

    - Finding out exactly what real people want in your niche.

    - Traffic. Must be very targeted or you are just wasting your time. Only give your link to relevant questions.

    HI Ymest
I use yahoo answers but mainly to get a different type of backlink. I have a high level account but as someone said you do have to be careful not to spam your links. Try dropping a link every 4th or 5th time you answer. Just make sure that the answer you give is relevant to the question asked and your site.

PM me if your looking for more information on yahoo answers as i think i have plr books on the subject that i got for free. I can send them to you, i'll just have to dig them out from the hard drive.

If you do a good job of answering relevant question in a helpful and informative way, I believe it is a worthwhile source of traffic for a number of reasons:

    1. The traffic is very targetted and therfore converts well.
    2. A consistant effort over many months will provide you with ongoing traffic even after you stop or take a break from answering questions.
    3. It adds to backlink diversity. Even though the links are no follow, they still help you in the serps (just not PR).
    4. Anything that can reduce your depenance on google serps traffic is great in my view. The more diverse streams of traffic you can build the better.

You can put your website info in your profile and people can go there to find out more about you. That way you don't risk the chance of getting yourself banned for using your link in a response.

YA sends some very targeted traffic. For ex: I get only about 40 visits in a particular niche, but it converts.

    Its time consuming, but effective.

Its not bad and can help you but if you don't have a lot of time for optimizing your website, you can ignore it. Actually it was a good resource some years ago and now it lost some of it's value.
