Is MySpace a complete waste of time?

I'm thinking about putting MySpace back into the mix but after looking it over for a few minutes tonight I think it sucks just as bad now as it did a few years ago. What do you guys think, is it worth the time?

I wouldn't waste too much time with it. You can set up a profile if you want, but Facebook is obviously where you want to spend a majority of your efforts on social networking sites. Facebook offers so much more in regards to getting traffic and the demographics are extremely vast compared to Myspace.

"The Golden Town is the Golden Town no longer. They have sold their pillars for brass and their temples for money, they have made coins out of their golden doors. It is become a dark town full of trouble, there is no ease in its streets, beauty has left it and the old songs are gone." - Lord Dunsany, The Messengers

Well, I think your answer is pretty self-evident then - unless you want to try their paid ad platform, which might be a good supplement to Facebook ads, as I'm sure that you can get pretty good demographic targeting there as well.

While there are a lot of people who have abandoned their MySpace accounts, there is still plenty of money to be made there. It is currently ranked #76 on Alexa out of millions of websites. People are still using the site and that means there is money to be made there.

It might suck but I think I'm going to give it another shot. 5 minutes a day, what can it hurt? I just wish they would simplify the site a bit and do something about the slow load times, geez, even after all these years it is still a drag to surf that site.
