Plugins in wordpress

Hi. I need a little help here.

My word press plug ins are not showing up on my blog in word press.I have downloaded the plug into a file on my PC.I then used file zilla to transfer the files over to the server by going into public HTML then WP- content and then plug ins. I drop and drag them into the plug ins.

Now, I go into word press , I look under plug ins to activate them and they are no where to be found.What an I doing wrong?

Please help.

    Have you extracted the archive and after that transferred the extracted files?
    Or you have just transferred the archive directly.

    Try using the upload function in the plugin section of your blog and transfer the zipped file. Then install and activate it from within WP.
