Don't be a pansy.
Yes, many people are lazy. Some are even un-intelligent.
I don't think that's it at all though.
Most people don't succeed because they fail or make huge mistakes...
They don't succeed because they DON'T DO ANYTHING.
Why though?
Again, do people not act because they're lazy?
I'd be inclined to say no, because most people are also self interested, and rightly so.
Ironically, the goal of IM is to work less, itself a somewhat lazy goal. (in my case at least)
So I don't think lazy is the problem.
I think people don't do anything because they're scared.
There's too much uncertainty, too much ego on the line.
No one wants to be a failure and look silly in front of others.
But you know what?
That's a crap excuse.
Boo hoo, your friends will make fun of you.
Big deal, make fun of them back, its no biggie.
Boo hoo, your family will think you're crazy. Too bad for them, they're stuck with you anyway!
The point is that pretty much the ONLY thing you need to change to succeed, is to stop being a pansy.
Get angry about it. Get passionate about this.
Its your life and its finite. You're in charge of using it properly, otherwise people will use you.
Are you really going to waste it wondering what other people think?
If you are, here's a reality check:
Even though you may stay up at night worrying about what people say about you, the people that say stuff about you aren't. They say it, then forget about you.
They aren't think about you, they're thinking about themselves.
So the smart-asses get to say something smart-arsy then forget about it, while you're mulling over it.
Are you going to play that game?
So next time you don't take action, ask yourself what's the worst thing that happen?
If its financial ruin, fine please don't take action.
If its a bit of teasing or fun poking, then just do it.
The successful among us soon realise that worst thing that can happen is that 20 years from now you look back at your life and wished you hadn't been such a pansy.
/end rant.
