Internet Marketing / Making money online is a lot like political talk radio hosts

Yup.

A lot of recycled ideas, the promise of something great (if you follow their ideas) and how other might be wrong

yet nothing of really any substance.

Those who do actually do, those who don't just write books.

Of the multitude of info products I have bought promising big returns - none have actually proven to provide and return.

I know there are others who feel the same. Nothing wrong with it - but lesson learned.

I have never purchased an ebook on how to make money online.

Few years back, many of them caught of my attention. I did a Google Search on each and every review I read was the same... It's either:

    1. Some guy giving his testimonial on how the ebook made him rich + his affiliate link throughout the whole article

    or...

    2. Some guy telling you how a certain ebook is a scam and you should buy that other one. And of course, his affiliate link was in both "the good" and "the scam" ebook.

If you want to make money online, save your cash. Just go to google and type in "ed dale 30 days challenge."

Actually, with only a couple of exceptions, I've always gotten tremendous value for the WSOs I've bought. Always learned enough to make it more than worth my while.

    Implementation is key.

Not to say that there aren't bad WSOs, but I buy from people I trust and avoid the big, stupid promises that sound way too good to be true.

I hate the hype. If you have purchased a product from a reputable online marketer, then:

      Put it into practice
Make sure you are in a niche where there are "buyers"
Be consistent and a little patient

Is it just me or does this dumb remark raise the hairs on the back of other peoples necks too... I should just ignore it i know but for some reason it irritates the crap out of me.

Its a generalisation of epic proportions and entirely without substance

Doesn't matter what product you buy, it won't make you any money unless you get off your duff and actually work it.

I have yet to see anyone who makes statements saying they bought "multitudes" of products who can show that they worked whatever system being taught for any length of time.

Most work at it (and usually half-assed) for a week or two, maybe a month, and then give up when money doesn't fall out of their keyboard.

Whose fault is that? Most of these products say the buyer will make $XXX per day starting on day 1 working with a push of a button.

Think of it this way... If you have back pain and you purchased a pill that that states it will clear the pain in 10 minutes... Then 30 hours later after taking it, you're still in pain. Wouldn't you file a complaint? It's the same reasoning with those MMO products.

I am not saying every MMO product seller does this. But, take a look at the WSO section. A huge deal of those MMO ebooks there are guaranteeing near impossible results in their sale pitches. That's enough reason for me to avoid buying from "you people" (no offense) altogether.

I agree Robert. What I often find is that buyers don't put in the work necessary to generate the wanted revenue and go on and complain about the quality of the ebook that they bought.
On the other hand I know that there are a lot of people that will skim through different forums, harvest some methods and resell them for a buck a piece without really knowing what they talk about.

Another often heard complaint I hear from my own customers is that they don't get any proper after sale support from a lot of 'product creators'. Personally I thrive on making sure my customer get maximum value from my product and I often times update my product with new info but for every honest hardworking product creators there are 100 people that just whip up a worhless 'product' to make a quick buck.

So, while I can see where the OP is coming from I think he is a little generalizing there.

If a claim is to good to be true it usually is. I think the hardest thing can be knowing when to move on from a product, niche, etc. and try something new. Even though a product says $1000 in a month is it bad or not working if it made one sale the first month? Is there potential there to grow or is it a lost cause?

It's actually very easy to find a need in a niche and fill it. I have done this for over ten years and am very successful. But yes, if you want to get into spinning articles and regurgitating content, you are not going to be a very happy OR successful IM

I just think that there is too much hype in "make 3,543" overnight WSOs.

Headlines are great - but not much substance in the actual product. Do we need another ebook on how to set up wordpress or how to use google's keyword tool?

    It's borderline dishonest.

What has been will be again,
      what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
      --Ecclesiastes 1:9

What you're talking about is not unique to IM. What worked 200 years ago, still works today. Because people haven't changed. And why wouldn't things be repeated over and over? We have 500 cable channels, sattellite radio, 24 hour news, and internet sites galore.

Radio talk show guys like Rush Limbaugh are brilliant marketers though, which is where I thought you were going with this. He is essentially a million dollar affiliate. Some of his promotions are flat rate, but quite a few of them have a large performance bonuses attached. e.g. Proflowers, Carbonite, and Lifelock.
