Hi Guys

I have been using camtasia for weeks without any problems now. Then suddenly it crashed and I restarted it, and now every time I put a video file in and try to move it to the timeline I get this message

"Unable to decode the video stream for the file. This file may not be supported."

We are talking about regular AVI files and I have even tried with files that worked with no problems yesterday.

Any ideas?

This sounds like a codec problem. Try changing the codec settings until you find the one that works. If you created the video on your computer the codec should still be on your hard drive.

Try using the Import Media function. If that doesn't work you might try re-running the install.

I know whenever I try to bring in any kind of file and especially WMV files it gives me some message about the file needs to be transcribed or some such crap but I just ignore it and bring it in anyway because there is absolutely "0" information anywhere about this error.

the old time favorite solution would be to reinstall.
