This is definitely a question I would love to hear others' opinions on too. I'm looking for more free ways to get traffic because I don't have the budget at the moment to pay to get traffic.

Edited to ask: How does one go about partnering up with someone who has a massive list? I would definitely be interested in doing that but have no idea where to start.

between the two I would focus on banner ads if you have the money
to advertise. if you are on a budget then focus more on forum marketing.

There are various Option available on Internet.

1) Best One is Forum Posting. - Good Coverage. Like WF etc
2) Banner Advertising is another Great Option - But Good if from a Site that Have Good Traffic
3) Have some Targeted Traffic Options in between to give a boost to your site.
4) Do Search Engine Submission on Regular Basis - Gap of 15 Days is Good.

Are you a small biz or restaurant owner? If so I think you should look into Wavespot wireless. They sell a router that links with your business fan page, so everyone that uses your WiFi becomes your facebook fan, furthermore the "like" is viral in that the visitor's FB network knows that they came to your location...its a great way to build a strong following online

My BEST source of traffic is my list...

However, in some niches, Twitter provides good traffic with regular tweeting... However, hadn't had too much success with Twitter in the IM niche...

Free or paid press releases can give you a jump start. Banner ads in targeted websites i.e. many tech sites are good for dating offers. Really there's just so much traffic available you need to try several methods and see what works for you. Ebay classified ads can work too and are really cheap.

email them another offer. check out clickbank. don't over do it. maybe 1 offer every 2 weeks. put that list to work making you money.

My list was dying a few years ago until I just started writing stories to them and then tying in a lesson that has to do with my niche. Think about why people visit fox.com they go there to be entertained. The same holds true for e-mail. People don't want to open your emails and see offer after offer, they want to be entertained, while being taught useful relevant information in your niche and then being given the opportunity after all that giving to invest in your product if they want more in-depth training. People love to buy, but they don't like to be sold but most importantly, they want to be entertained. If you write emails with this in mind, you'll find you'll build a very loyal following.

My best traffic source is article marketing combined with some SEO Link Building System with article spinning. By using this link building system, I have hundreds of keywords on Google page 1 which gives me lots of free organic traffic. In fact, one of my competitive 3-word keyword gives me Google page 1 against 624 million competition.

I also like forum marketing, press release and profile linking which also works for me but not as much as the above.

For adsense it's mostly SEO, a bit from facebook (facebook likes).

For my blog it's all forum traffic.

I never did paid traffic but I kinda would like to try it soon...

A few questions to ask yourself - what product are you promoting? And what is the price of your product? Who is your audience?

Some methods are more effective than others depending on your product/price/audience.

If you're marketing a real estate course (expensive) - you would have a different approach than you would if you were marketing an inexpensive IM report. They key is, identifying your tarket market then figuring out the best way to get your message in front of them. Banner advertising may or may not work depending on your product/price/audience.

If you target keywords that get over 1000 searches/month (and you shouldn't settle for less, do the following:

1) claim the first spot with SEO techniques
2) each day write 2 articles, submit them to top 5 article directories

Let's say each one of your articles only gets visited 2 times per day (and we all know that's not true), at the end of the month you'll end up with 60 articles, each one converting 2 clicks/day, equals to total sum of 120 clicks / day.

If you do this for 3 months, you will end up with 360clicks/day (+ the regular SEO, targeted traffic)

No costs whatsoever, except if you want to make your life a little bit easier and invest in an article spinning/submission software.

My top 3 traffic sources are:

1. Google (organic)
2. Facebook
3. StumbleUpon

I only use free seo methods but I'm getting decent traffic from organic searches. I haven't done article marketing, video marketing, ppc, banner ads, link exchanges, etc but I am planning to do so (probably next month).

If you're starting out, I recommended 'Article Marketing'.

Outside of all of the reasons stated in this thread, I believe that if a 'newbie' starts researching and writing articles on their topics of interest....the knowledge base grows. As you start talking to others, interacting with those reading your articles, etc....you'll start to discover new opportunties to market and build relationships.

The best source - YOURSELF! Be determined to succeed. Be diligent in your consistent efforts.

In certain niches forum marketing is great. I have one niche where I generate almost 1500 uniques a month just from forum posts because I'm viewed as an expert in the forum.

Believe it or not, though, I still like article marketing to drive traffic and for me it seems to really convert well.

Here is one of the best tips i recieved for getting traffic.

1) go to where your best highest targeted customer hangs out.

2) Ask yourself, what sort of message are these people wanted to see, or what problems are they having.

3) put a big bold headling infront of them explaining how you can solve their problem and get them to visit your site.

4) if you cannot get sales from this you are doing soemthing wrong.

A prospect that is half warm is much easier to get a sale from, from a random dude that has not liking to the product you have on offer.

Once i started getting targeted traffic to my site, the sales roared in. Stopped me getting up in the morning and hoping and preying my inbox would be filled with 'you made a sale' emails.

So just go to where you most ideal customer is hanging out. I have found the most tight niched and high trafficed the better results will be. If you can put your message infront of them without spamming....watch your sales increase by 300%

I love this question. The best traffic source I've seen is from creating content that is really good and has links back to your squeeze page and getting affiliates to send it for free to their lists. There are few traffic sources that can generate as much leads in such a short time with so little effort.

The best traffic source is anything that requires at least a medium degree of interest to click your link. Always be aware of the mindset of a potential customer when they click your ad.

Forum posting in forums directly related to your product and joint ventures with other marketers who have an e-mail list of highly targeted buyers in your niche are the most obvious and also the best sources from what I've found.

Normally after I write one article I will submit to top 50 article directory.

You can serach the list on Google.

Why article is such an effective marketing method is because it can build up the relationship first when they read your articles, you provide something useful information to them, and they are interest might click the link under Author area.

The best things is the articles directory ranking is high, so will drive a good backlink/ traffic to you!
