Best Split Test Software?

Whats the best software to test website copy, graphics, headline etc. I have found absplittesting.com & splittestaccelerator.com. Any others that I should look at? Have anyone used these or others?

By testing software I mean that the software will automatically redirect/ insert items/ change my sites' headlines or copy to test one variable against another.

Thanks,

Mike

I second the Google Website Optimizer. I personally wrote my own split-testing software that runs on my server, but that was before the Google product.

And it is FREE, too. I highly recommend it.

    I recommend Split Test Accelerator.

By no means is it cheap.

Take some time to understand why comparing Google Website Optimizer to STA or other Taguchi based split test engines is like comparing an apple to an orange.

Google Website Optimizer is a FULL FACTORIAL testing engine.

    That's for Google's benefit...not yours.

    Basically, if you have 3 headlines, 3 colors, 3 fonts, and 3 prices, with a FULL FACTORIAL model, you have 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 81 combinations.

So, Google Website Optimizer will rotate 81 different landing pages to present to your traffic...and determine which variations are the best based on the actions of those 81 different variations.

The PROBLEM with this is the amount of traffic it takes to generate statistical significance for any 1 factor.

Google clearly admits this in their own help documentation for Website Optimizer.

When traffic is light, you can fall back to a fractional factorial analysis. When traffic is heavy, then full factorial analysis can be contemplated and is provided automatically for all experiments...
Google is in the "advertising" business...they benefit from your test needing more traffic!

Fractional Factorial Experiments use orthogonal arrays to find the best factors from a small sample size.

Using the above example, if we wanted to test 3 headlines, 3 colors, 3 fonts, and 3 prices....3 x 3 x 3 x 3...we would only need 9 test pages (L9 array) to pull this off.

    9 pages vs. 81 pages.

You will achieve your results much faster and cheaper with a Fractional Factorial Engine.

    Just ask Toyota.

    Cheers,
    Jack

I purchased STA a few days ago and it's a dream come true as far as testing software is concerned. Nothing comes close to it. Pricey but worth every penny if you're serious about testing and optimization.

Another vote for "split test accelerator". I also heard good things about MuVar.
