I have a written product...what do I do with it?

Hey guys,

I have written a 14 page document helping others get resolution to problems with products/services from big companies that do not want to help with it. What are some good ways I can market it?

Also, what price do I set for it? It'd work for any product from $5-$50,000.

Thanks.

Jeremy

For instance, say you buy a widget from XCT corporation. Well, the widget doesn't work as promised, or, just doesn't work. You go to XCT corporation, to get it taken care of, but, XCT doesn't stand behind their widget, even though it's within warranty, it's not damaged, whatever. The only solution they offer is to buy another widget. My system gets it taken care of, typically, without you having to buy it again.

Forum posting, free ads, banners, text links, ppc, offline ads, WSO. As regards pricing, start with a moderate price you can later increase it.

    Hi Jeremy,

Congratulations on writing your first info product.

My first question to you would be, "Did you see
if there was a market for this before you wrote it"?

Here are a few things that I check for before I
    even start producing a product.

    1. Is there a market for the product?
    2. Do they gather online in groups?
    3. Do they spend money?
    4. Is there other product/services that I can offer them?
    5. Are they old enough for a Credit Card?
    6. Are their Forums dedicated to this niche?
    7. etc etc...

That is just a small sample of things that I check for. I actually
have a checklist that I put every niche through before I do
    anything with it.

The more checks on the checklist the better.

I know this does not really answer your original question,
but it does bring up some very important issues that you
    may need to consider.

    Take Care,

    Michael Silvester

    Jeremy:

Mike's list is a good place to start. You should decide if you want to sell it outright, or if you'd like to give it away and use it to drive other forms of revenue, or if you'd like to offer it as a premium, or if you'd like to build a list with it.

If you build a list, then you should have a plan on how to monetize the list.

Well, I have used this method several times, not only for myself, but, for others as well. I have gotten 2 Dell laptops replaced, and had some unneccesary Sprint overages removed as well. In addition, for myself, my Verizon bill had some extra charges that should not have been there, and after several talks with customer care, finally used my method, and got it taken care of.

The way I see it, just about everyone has issues with some company for a service or widget, and my method will get those issues resolved.

LOL - that is what I was thinking....you should advertise it anywhere dell customers conjugate. Hahahaha. Put a low price on it for impulse buying, tell them they can have it for a price, or they can get it at half price for signing on for your newsletter, and then market it on consumer complaint sites - dell, AOL, Verison, etc customers will be all over it after being on hold for 40 minutes to talk to someone who doesn't even understand the language.

Perhaps you could write up a few case studies (like the ones you mentioned) illustrating how your system helped others solve their problems, and then promote it for sale. I'd pay a reasonable price for a system like that if I was having trouble with a company.

The Rip Off Report is a place where people go when they can't get satisfaction for poor service and shody widgets. (RipOffReport does offer a book of thir own for sale, but yours sounds slightly different. Advertise or share profits with them.

      www.ripoffreport.com

Contact the webmaster of scambusters and see if you can work a deal (JV with him):

"Internet Scams, Identity Theft, and Urban Legends: Are You at Risk?"

      You could also go here:

Consumer Fraud Reporting - Free Consumer Protection Information About Scams

They have a page called "If you are scammed" that takes ads.

I'd say charge $17 for the report. That way people will buy on impulse more easily, and if you 50/50 split, there will be a little something in it for each of you.

I liked Sal's idea of offering half off if they join your list. Then you can send weekly e-mails with good info (you can straight-up use EZineArticles [leaving the resource box intact] for your content and offer affiliate products that are niche specific).

Later, I would rework the book and in addition to your content, I'd have my cloaked affiliate links to other products inbedded into the document and give it away, hoping it would go viral. There are plenty of give-a-way offers that will build your list even further and help spread/brand your name.

Helpful tips on what to do with your product:

    1. Research the niche for players that sell/broadcast information there - blogs, e-mail lists, forums.

    2. Contact them and offer a JV partnership.

    3. Launch a campaign...

    Good luck!

A JV partner is someone you "J"oint "V"enture with. You have a product, they have a list of people who would be interested in your product. You will offer your JV partner 50%-75% of the profits for offering your book to their list.
      A match made in heaven!

That may sound like a steep cut for the JV partner, but you will be making more sales than you would on your own (volume) and you will capture the contact information for everybody that buys, thus building your list.

PLR stands for: "Privat Label Rights". That is when you sell a limited number of your book (50-100) where the people who buy it have the right to resell your product, and change it as they please. It also means that your name, as the original author, is not listed. The buyer can resell it as if they were the author.

Reprint rights would give the buyer the right to sell your book, leaving it unchanged (with you still listed as the author) and they get to keep 100% of the profits.)

You typically will charge a little more for people to get the Reprint rights.

PLR tends to sell for a really cheap price. It is considered raw material that the buyer will rework to suit them (changing enough of the content so it won't be the same as the finished product that the rest of the 50-100 bought from you)

My suggestion would be to go with the reprint rights (of the 2 options) and imbed your website info and maybe some affiliate links (of yours) in it so that even though the buyer of the Reprint rights gets to keep 100% of the money from the sale they make, your book will go "viral" and you will be recouping the benifit of the traffic to your site,...you may grow your list...and maybe even make some sales with your alliliate links.

Just make sure you specify that the sellers must leave the book intact...not able to change anything. They must sell "as is".

An example of Reprint Rights pricing would be: If the book sells for $17, then purchasing Reprint Rights may cost $27 to $37.

General discription. Others may be able to expound/expand on that.

Build up a site and include an opt-in form. Give it away for free and build a huge list. Create a more comprehensive package-- cd's, dvd's, and pdf format-- to create more of a perceived value. Then use that p.v. to your advantage by promoting your new product to your huge list and selling it as a W.S.O.

OK, a WSO stands for Warrior Special Offer. If you look at the category just below this one, on the landing page, WSO's are located there. You may want to check those threads out. There are some products there that would give you some of the missing pieces to the puzzle. (But, asking questions, here, is cheaper! )

Did I understand you correctly, that you don't have a PDF?

In case that is the case, go here:

      download: OpenOffice.org Downloads

Download "Open Office". It is a free program that does EVERYTHING that Microsoft Office does, PLUS it has a free PDF converter built-in. One press of the button and any document becomes a PDF. This is a MUST HAVE!
It has a word processor, spread sheet, database, drawing program, presentation program (like PowerPoint) and a few others I've never used.

Open Office is an "Open Source" program. That means that programers from around the world work on making it better and keep it free. (WordPress is another example of Open Source program, offered for free.)

As for making CD's & DVD's, you can make these very cheaply by investing in a decent ($30) headset (Best Buy or Circuit City carry them) with headphones & built-in microphone and use an audio program (such as "Audacity" or "Impact Web Audio") to record your voice.

      Audacity: Download

(Although many people sell "Impact Web Audio", many give it away as a freebie. You can search it out, or PM me & I can get you a free copy)

Another source of free audio editing & recording software is:

Free audio recorder software. Download audio recorder

The same headset can also be used to make "Screen Capture" video. There are free versions of programs for that, too. ("CamStudio" is probably the best of the free ones. You can use "Jing", but I'm not impressed with it, as you have to leave the videos on their webserver, and sometimes they aren't available. I'd want to have more control over my work than that.)

Once you have some videos, audios and PDF books, you can bundle them together and have a company like "Lulu" take care of packaging and mailing your product to your customers.

With Lulu ( Self Publishing - Lulu.com ) you can have them create your package "as needed" (no need to pay to have 100's of packages made in advance) for a very reasonable fee. They burn the CD's & DVD's & PDF's and Package them, for you) And, you don't have to mail out ANYTHING! Well worth the money.

Think of it like Ebay, where you just add the charge for the Shipping & Handling (by Lulu) into the price.

Well, if you have any more questions, I'll be checking back and see if I can help. Wow, I should bunch all of these posts I've made in this thread and offer it as a WSO Info Package!

Seriously, ask away, that's the only way you are going to learn.

Woops, I missed part of your question. (I promise, this one won't be as long a post.

The "How does a WSO work" part...well you make a package you want to sell. You pay $20 dollars (submission fee) and get to have your offer listed on the WSO Thread. You will offer it to the Thousands (tens of, even) Warriors here at a discounted "Warrior Special" price. You will clean up, if your product offers good contact/value.

Then you will get feedback, testimonials, and lots of green for your efforts. Once you have done your WSO, you will be able to tweak you package (using the feedback you received) and offer it for a higher price (to those not smart enough to be members of the WF) on Clickbank or the like.

OK, I'm really going to stop now.

Instead of making your product as PLR, you can go to PLR site here you can buy articles or ebooks of your niche topic, bundle them tohether as a packages or toolkits to sell on your website. That way you can charge a higher price than to do it as a single item.

    Cheers to your success !

I thank you for your response. I will read more tonight. I just skimmed over it, and again, seems like great info! I am SO pumped.

I know it probably depends on how well I market it, but, who thinks I can make $500 or more per week for 6 months on this? How about $1,000?

I am thinking of a price between $7-$17.
