Hi warriors,

All of us probably know that weight loss niche is one of the most popular. Do you think someone has more chances to succed in this niche or in make money online?. Let`s say e.g.

We create a product (a good one) and publish it on clickbank. Does this has more chances to succed than a product in MMO niche?

It all depends on your contacts (JV partners) and marketing efforts.

A piece of sh*t weight loss ebook can outsell a million dollar info MMO product any day (or vice versa) if the right marketing techniques are implants.

I may be interested in a joint venture in the weight loss niche. Would want to focus more on the natural side of weight loss and steer clear of the poisons they call diet pills Let me know if you are interested.

        Cheers,
        H.

Thanks Dash... my one business is with capsules and is for dieting purposes, so I was wondering if his reference was one that other people have towards ANY pills for dieting or specific bad-rep pills.

                No problem

I was just generalizing with the "bad reputation" statement BTW. I am no expert but from few researches, I've read comments from disappointed customers about how diet pill don't deliver what they promise. So, no disrespect to your business...

Thank you Dash...and I agree. So much garbage out there. I do appreciate when people give honest answers and truly helpful insight. I try to do the same and have a lot of respect for those who have a heart to help others without "slamming" people in the process (too much of that out there as well).

Good question. What I mean is that 99% of diet pills on the market today are 100% useless and or poisonous to us. They do not have a bad reputation for nothing I am not referring to natural diet pills, although there are a few of those which are not healthy for you either. I am talking mainly about pharmaceutical or man made chemical based diet pills.

One of the best diet foods you can go on is Coconut oil. You can use it for anything you would any cooking oil for, anything you would use butter for i.e. popcorn, toast, cookie dough, etc.
Coconut oil is one of the healthiest fats there are and it actually helps you lose weight because your body doesnt store this type of fat, it simply processes it for energy.

I hope I answered the question without rambling too much

            Cheers,

If you're noob (just like me) I'd rather recommend you to get your feet wet in some evergreen but not overcrowded niche. I don't think that weight loss niche is a way to go for a newbie. Yes, it could be pretty profitable, but you have to know all the ins and out of IM first since there are alot of professionals working in weight loss.

No need to learn a lot of ins and outs in the weight loss field. Just find a a good weight loss product or products that has a great website loaded with testimonials and promote. Actually, you must learn how to market moreso than learning the ins and outs of the weight loss field.

Well everyone wants to lose weight. Weight loss is an evergreen product. What I mean by that is you can do it all year round. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking about doing it myself.

But if I were to go into the niche my thinking would be as basic information "what to avoid" as a starting point.

I make good money in this niche and I can assure anyone thinking of getting into it that if they think they can choose a clickbank ebook and then throw out a load of articles that basically say eat fewer calories, exercise - oh and buy this amazing ebook, then they are going to fail.

The only way to succeed, in my opinion, is to give your readers a unique, subjective account of what the diet or program your promoting actually does.
    • choose the product
    • use the product
    • chart your progress
    • blog about it - with evidence
    • write articles about it
    • visit dieting forums and talk to others about it
    • every time the mainstream news has a feature about this diet - make a comment with a link to your site
    • aim to become the example of what this diet can achieve
This is what people thinking about starting a new diet really want to read. They'll buy the ebook, buy any other book from Amazon you promote and click on your adsense ads. Even after you've moved on, you'll still be the example of how this diet works in real life and your site will continue to create revenue.

That is true. What do you recommend for narrowing it down from:
      age 35-50
      group moms
      primary issue tummy, arms, legs
secondary issue no time to eat right, busy, work f/t

That is my specific customer (cause that's me!) But, perhaps I can get even more specific???

Last year I bought a WL niche domain thinking it would be the bees knees (does anyone say that anymore???). I didn't do anything with it. Now that I'm researching IM and learning, I've found that there are a whopping 36 searches per months in the area I'm looking at. No competition either, but no interest.

I usually enjoy overcrowded niches and the bigger they are the more i make. However, you need to be selling a great product (always make my own) and have a good autoresponder email sequence.

I find that if you learn how to drive traffic first, then you can virtually sell anything. Google has changed the free traffic game with their last update but there are so many other ways of ranking video sites and other sites besides you own. Paid traffic takes a bit of time and money before you become succesful at it yet can make you tons of cash.

So dont, really be scared if a niche has too much competition, because that means there is a demand for the niche and people are making money in it. Focus on your product and traffic and you will do fine. I actually made most of money money in the weight loss niche and will continue milking it.

I agree with gussyboy on selling a great product but I also think you need to ensure that your product targets a particular segment of this niche simply because it is so...vast (sorry - couldn't resist).

As always, think of your ideal consumer and target that consumer with precision. Are you selling to overweight moms dying to get into their bikini this summer? Or flabby businessmen who are terrified of dying of a heart attack? Or maybe a super jock type who wants even more ripped abs to go with his new tattoo?? Once you know your target market you can then work out how best to reach that market and take it from there.

I disagree (may have to reserve it for the MMO niche, IMO). Weight loss is an extremely huge market with plenty of sub niches to go into. There's always room for another quality product methinks. As long as there's a unique selling point.

My marketing company will be rolling out a launch in this market this couple of months so I'm looking forward to working with some of you interested affiliates soon .

Actually no, that is not the case.

The thousands of markets where nobody gives a damn are the hardest to break into...the idea that a competitive market is too scary to tackle is one of the biggest myths out there today.

Sure, you've got to market and yes, you have to work your butt off...but people WANT these products, they WANT good solutions that get results...if you have that, then you can do very well.

We have recently tackled two very competitive niches and done extremely well - it really isn't as scary as targeting niches where there are a smaller group of interested people you need to reach.

There is ALWAYS a good reason why competition is low, and it always comes down to buying activity.

This isn't an exact answer to your question but it is related information that you might find useful...

I have a friend with a blog in the weight loss niche. It ranks in the top 10 for "weight loss tips" (with and without quotes) and obviously many long tails.

I have a blog that ranked in the top 10 for "make money online" (with and without quotes) for a long time. It has dropped back some now but we were both in the top 10 of our respective niches at the same time for a while.

Both our sites are basic wordpress blogs with free themes and we both ranked around the same spot in the top 10 at the same time. Overall they were pretty much the same in other ways too (ad placement, monetization methods, etc...). Obviously some things were different but for the most part they were very close to each other.

Anyway, during that time his weight loss blog was earning more than DOUBLE what my make money online blog was earning, even though everything was basically equal other than the niches we were targeting.

    Something to think about.

There are so many smart asses in this forum who are full of sh*t: "The niche is too competitive" blah blah blah...

I'm currently running Google content network PPC campaign promoting some weight loss stuff on clickbank (fat burning furnace and diet solution) for women who just had their babies.

Did some research, found some websites on the first page of Google who are ranking well and who have AdSense (mainly forums/about.com sites) and so far:

      711 clicks
      237 subscribers
      4 x $38 dollar sales.

      $355 spent. $152 made.

Yes I am making a loss, but I'm happy with $0.85 cost per lead in one of the "most competitive markets" considering that I selling totally unrelated stuff.

Now I had this campaign running for 3 days and I wasn't even trying hard to sell the info product. The plan from this point onwards is to build a bigger list, survey the ladies and then create and sell them something

Anyway. "weight loss" is a great market, yet to see success quicker you need to dig down a little deeper and find a niche within a niche :p

P.S. It is so much more fun to work on a project that you like and that you are passionate about instead of creating content and selling stuff for people who want to stop farting or to other "untapped" markets

Joy, there are many ways to slice and dice even the group you have defined.

What economic level are these moms at? Are they foodies, or just like to eat the wrong stuff? Do they have food allergies or other challenges? Do their kids have food allergies or other challenges? Are they single or married?

        You get the idea...

This doesn't mean you need a different product for each micro niche, but it does mean you have a better chance of having them read your message and say "that was written just for me, so I'll try it."

On a side note, and addressed to no one in particular, I get a kick out of people saying things like "the weight loss niche" or the "dating niche" when large markets like those can be targeted so much more precisely.

Consider it like the difference between carpet bombing an entire city to hit one target vs. being able to pick which window your smart missile enters through.

          Loving this analogy John!

What you said is so true.

It is so much easier to attack these kinds of markets if you'll focus on one highly specific and narrow problem.

I have a great physical product, videos, and e-books that I am working on with my roomate who is a personal trainer. We are doing the proper diligence to make the product truly amazing (IT"s GOING TO BE SO DON"T WORRY) but it's the marketing it via clickbank and getting over that initial hump in this competitive industry that I believe will be the biggest hurdle.

When I am ready can I come to you fellow warrirors for support?

I think depending on how good the product is, it has every chance to succeed, as long as you identify that the niche is profitable (which the weight loss niche is) depending on how you go about promoting your product it can be successful, and ofcourse with Clickbank others are promoting your product for you

I am in the weight loss micro niche. It really depends on how well the physical product is and whether customers are willing to spend money immediately. You also have to convince your customers to take action and see results after taking it for sometime.

I'm about to take a gamble in this niche.

I would think it's more about the number of long tail keywords than anything. Not sure why so many people think a competitive niche is bad.

If anything a competitive niche gives you more possibilities.

I read in a magazine recently that a handful of millionaires are made in this niche, every single day. Like any popular niche, it's going to attract a lot of sellers.

It's the people that have a solid product / service and know how to market that product are the ones that are going to make money doing it. You don't have to be the next P90X or the next Insanity Workout to be successful. And you don't even have to be a celebrity like Jillian Michaels or Cindy Crawford.

There used to be a Warrior who was overweight and then documented his weight loss using videos, a journal and blog; he turned that into a whole product line.

Copywriting is a subset of marketing, so if your copy writing or salesmanship in print is not up to par, you should outsource it. Which product is more compelling to your target market? A or B?

A: How To Lose That Belly Fat OR.....

    B. How To Get That Six Pack And Sexy Flat Stomach in 60 Days Or Less And Have The Ladies Begging You To Show Them Off Again And Again?

Remember, market saturation and "too much competition" is mostly a myth. You don't have to outrun the lion, you only have to outrun the next guy.

I will say this, it's definitely not a market for newbies. You definitely need to have marketing saavy and be willing to lose money testing campaigns before you make any money (unless somebody flat out gives you all their money-making keywords, which ain't gonna happen!).
