Where and how do domain flippers host their sites?

Hi Warriors!

A domain flipper will have hundreds of domains that need to be pointed at a simple, but unique, common "domain for sale" website.

Since most hosts only allow 5-10 domains, how are they solving this problem? Sure they could just redirect the domain to a random host, but that doesn't make you able to get verified by google webmaster tools etc.

Warriors got any knowledge on this topic?

How about pointing the domain to a subdomain on a general hosting account?
    Like:
    Domain > subdomain.generaldomain.com
    Domain2> subdomain1.generaldomain.com

    Does that make sense?

And the sub-domains pointed to different directories? How is this soloution SEO wise? And should I use "Redirection" or "Send to external URL" when pointing domain to subdomain?

I don't think that they have a problem. Most of them have dedicated servers and they can host as many sites as they like...

Yes every subdomain would have its own httpdocs directory.
I use Plesk most of the time and thus for every subdomain I get a hosting within the actual hosting account.

You could use the CNAME record in you domain manager to point to the subdomain.

If I am not mistaken this will work the same, SEO wise, as would with a standard domain setup. Although some people will argue that all your domains will be hosted on the same IP. That works the same way with shared hosting though, so I am not to worried about that part.

Do they HAVE to host it anywhere? <----flashing newbie sign

I understand that they'd like to have 'for sale' up for anyone looking for the domain, but is that the only reason? For example, if I want to sell imanewb.com and know I'm selling it on Sedo or Flippa or whatever, do I have to have the domain hosted?

Because when I do sell the site, if my host is Hostgator and they want to use GoDaddy....isn't that a bit of a hassle?

Thank you for starting this thread, recently discovered domain flipping and I'm very interested.

Personally I do flip some domains once in a while and I have found that whenever I am selling a domain name with an idea or concept attached to it, it helps enormously to have a mock up website attached to it to help the prospect buyer visualize the idea or concept that is attached to the domain.

Hostgator allows unlimited domains. I'm sure there's a secret limit but after 100 or so sites, I still haven't reached it.

My host (Dreamhost) also has unlimited domains. Although they aren't the best host for flipping
