Very New & Very Green Internet Marketer with a unique blog idea

Hey All,

I am very new to the Internet Marketing space, but have a ton of experience (10+) in a non-saturated blog area.

I have a ton of ideas but i want to go about things the right way.

I have read a lot about sequences of writing blogs, and then marketing, but i would like some non-biased ideas of what fellow Warrior Forum Members have done to create and market successful blogs.

I have not purchased a domain yet, but the one i want is available.

Is there any host you recommend over another.

Once I get up and running and write a few blogs, i'd really like to begin heavy marketing.

Again, anything you guys can do to point me in the right direction, would be a tremendous help!

Thanks again!

Tom

Write articles related to your content and submit them to article directories.
Post USEFUL comments on other related blogs.
Develop a strong social following (Facebook/Twitter, etc..)

Don't throw up ad's all over your blog at first, from my experience that will make would-be subscribers turn away.

Give people a reason to come back and read your blog time and time again.

Well I would snag that domain straight away while you think about it. Like NOW

And thats the problem. You seem to be stuck in neutral when you should be moving forward with your project. If you need a mentor I can recomend one by PM.

    Snag the domain
Get help to set things up
Join the private war room room
Spend 12 hours at least searching this forum for the "How to" aspect of your project.

Whatever you do - do not do nothing

@ Ken -- Haven't bought that domain yet, because not sure which is the best host to go with.

Yes, I would like for you to PM me a name of a mentor I can reach out to for sure.

You can buy the domain at namecheap and leave it sitting there while you sort out hosting.

      For Hosting
Please do not use the mighty HG. (A long sad story)
      Bluehost is my choice.

I will check with the mentor I am working with and PM you if he has space for you

I read an article that said, yes go w/ Host Gator.

I will register the domain @ namecheap then.

Yep, go for it! Get the domain right now! I also recommend namecheap and hostgator. (I have some videos that show you how to change the nameservers and get wordpress setup - pm me once you get your hosting if you need them)

Do your keyword research if you have not already and then start posting to your blog right away. Then bookmark each post, submit to some article directories and so on....

Don't over analyze what to do - just start doing it!

So I purchased the domain, and i am looking at hosts. Bluehost as mentioned by Ken looks good, but i've read about host gator. Blue looks to be a little cheaper, yes? Any other pros/cons feedback? I am trying to move forward, and any opinions are greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the markets. I have some suggestions - having started much like you about 7 months ago.

I have gone through several programs and came on Chris Farrell's Internet Marketing Program. I circled it for several weeks - joined and have never looked back.

It is inexpensive and provides free hosting. Plus it provides forums, squeeze pages, and current marketing information.

I have chosen to use a blog to base my traffic generation. I found Blog Master Mind with Yaro Starak. A lot of common sense there and a great help.

Here is the KEY to the programs I found the most helpful. Both Chris Farrell and Yaro Starak say in unison - "over deliver -- high quality"

I have watched them both carefully - they practice what they preach. Chris Farrell has a whole library of video materials - members can download and use over and over.

Yaro Starak has teamed with Guidan Shelwick and made fantastic free reports and videos that take you right down to the exact implementation details.

These are the only programs I am promoting - yes I promote them as well. What I would encourage you to do is go over to my site - click through and take ONLY the free materials.

Evaluate the information - if it is useful to you then consider clicking thru and taking the full program. Chris's program with free - unlimited hosting is fantastic. Plus - get this - twice they have checked technical issues on my site - guided me on the fix and moved me to the next level.

I am also very interested in any comments you may have about my site. If you do click through - and want to spend the time - please leave a comment on what you see -- as a new visitor.

I will greatly appreciate your note!

Best of luck and hope to hear from you in the near future on a recurring basis. We can all learn from each other.

A good way to start if you are unsure about hosting. Starting writing articles daily for your blog. Once you choose your host, get your web up, you will already have posts ready to go.

For my day job I set up a homestead site but not fond of it. 30 day trial will most likely park it.

I outsourced a Word Press site "Amazon Affilate" two weeks ago I'm currently using hostgator. I have the hatching set up.

Last night I had some success with Word Press and installed an article I had written a week earlier. The nice part, is once I figured out WP It was easy to post the article.

This is probably what I will do. Very very good. better to have some articles written and in store. Thanks!

Make sure your early posts are quality posts and put ads on your blog from the get-go.

If you have no ads at the start and add them later on, that may turn people away. It changes their impression of you, and some may react negatively. But, if you have ads from the start, you don't risk that happening.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

tsdevils - I run a hosting company and we have an exclusive 50% off promo here for warriors (see my sig link, which has feedback from fellow warriors). If price is a major deciding factor for you the 50% off makes our shared hosting cheaper than HG.

I've seen a lot of great ideas here, and really as I am new, i don't know what feels best to me. I am really looking for a mentor, someone i can bounce ideas off of via a few emails etc. Is anyone willing to spend a little bit of time with me?

What I can promise in advance is if you have your own blog, i will absolutely follow it, share with my friends and my network etc.

I do have an extensive network and a significant amount of FB friends, and i wouldn't mind doing some free advertising for you either.

Again, I thank all for their opinions up to this point, and I am ready to take the next step forward in my journey.

    Thanks
    Tom

I'd be careful with that idea tsdevils, you might find your "mentor" is telling you to buy digital product after digital product with their affiliate link that claims they will answer all your questions.

If you have questions, just post them in a thread here. You'll get responses from several people, not just one person.

I have my domain purchased right now through namecheap. If i signed with your hosting service, i'm not sure how it all works with transfering the domain name from namecheap.

Then i have to think about webdesign and how i want the blog to look..... again. I have 0 experience setting things up, just a lot of blog ideas

Registrars (like namecheap) and hosting are two different things.

You do NOT 'transfer' a domain to a host. The domain is registered (=you bought it) and on the registrar's site you will have to change the DNS (domain name server) info to point it to the host where your site will live.

Unless you change it, your registrar will always be namecheap and you can host the domain wherever you want. You can even change hosting companies - all you have to do: modify the DNS info and the domain will be hosted on another domain.

EDIT. When you buy a hosting package they will tell you what their dns info is.

What you need to do is login to Namecheap and edit the domain and look for the nameserver records (sorry, I don't have a specific list of steps for namecheap, I always use Godaddy for my domains lol). Your domain currently has them set to:

      dns1.registrar-servers.com
      dns2.registrar-servers.com
      dns3.registrar-servers.com
      dns4.registrar-servers.com
      dns5.registrar-servers.com

Delete those and for the first 2 fields put:

      ns1.boltwebhosting.com
      ns2.boltwebhosting.com

Then wait about 48 hours and the domain will be loading on our server. You can login to cPanel (see the 'New Account Information' email you got from us) and start building your site

Already have an introduction blog ready and by the time we are up and running hope to have 3-4 more.

I have used host gator a lot and they have been great.

But, if you start getting a lot of traffic, and you use more that the 25% of server resources for 30 seconds, they will shut you down.

I actually have used Blue Host, Host Nine, Host Papa, and a number of others.

At least when Host Gator shuts you down, they give you a warning email and give you time to correct any issues. The other companies, just shut you down ands ask questions later.

I got suspened from all the above named, and the only traffic I was getting was the google bots.

But, I think the best thing to do is to get a VPS hosting.
With VPS Hosting, you are assigned a certain amount of RAM, HD Space, CPU usage and so on. Since you are buying the dedicated Resources, they say use it til your heart's content. If you are overloading a server, it is only your websites that suffer, so they don't worry. At least, thats what they are telling me.

No, you don't get the unlimited everything like the shared hostings offer, but rest assured, they are NOT unlimited.

I think it is a sales ploy to get you started, then when you are finally getting any traffic, they suspend your account, in hopes you will buy more expensive hosting from them.

I have researched some inexpensive VPS hosting, but have not used them yet. If you do use them, please let me know how they do. I will be using them them next time I get suspended, and it won't be long based on my past experience.

Make sure you get the hosting plan that is VPS (Virtual Private Server).

It won't let me post direct links, so just google each of these companies.
    cyberls
    directspace
    Wooservers
    dmehosting
    axisnext

And no, I don't work for the hosting companies. I am just sick and tired of getting suspend for any little thing, and I bet you will be too.

My Blog is up and running officially, yet not advertised yet.

I put up my intro blog, and hope to write a few more this week.

I am also in the market to have a theme developed. I am going to hit up a few friends on this, and then I will release to the public.

For those who are wondering what I am blogging on....

Fantasy Sporting League Architecture (Set-up, and design)
Pool Automation (i.e. NCAA Pool's, HR Pools) -- using spreadsheets
Any other Commissioner like duties to elevate experiences

The services of value i will be providing lay in advanced microsoft excel skills, and formulas to automate spreadsheets, and save end users countless time updating throughout the year.

Fantasy Sports is a HUGE market in the world, and a significant portion of what is done, still happens manually.
