Need Recommendations for eBook Software Please

Can anyone recommend a complete eBook software package, that includes a choice of editable graphics, including squeeze page, BIN (either PP or CB) button, squeeze page, and optin box and autoresponder?

I'm not good with the technical side of anything so I need something I can use without a disaster! If it doesn't come with graphics, I know there are plenty of Warriors for Hire I can use, so that's not a problem.

Appreciate your help.

I personally just write in word and then convert to PDF

Graphics wise, Steve at gfx-1.com is amazing and done some incredible work for me lately

No, the real problem is that you were not able to formulate exactly your problem

You are looking at it from the wrong angle.

Creating ebook = writing + formatting + converting it to PDF.
        That's one task.

And the above task has NOTHING to do with making/outsourcing the marketing tools for it.

        Marketing tools:
        - squeeze/sales page including graphics, buttons etc.
        - e-cover graphics
        - signing up for an autoresponder service and using/editing their optin form(s)

Basically, you are asking the wrong question, sorry. Because there is no magic button that would perform ALL of the tasks that you enlisted. They all are different steps that require different tools.

I am not aware of any push-button software that will do everything from ebook creation to making a sales page for it. Even if one existed, it probably wouldn't be very good, because what often happens is that something that claims to do everything ends up not being very good in anything.

So use separate tools that are suited to each task.

For ebook creation itself, write in MS Word then convert to PDF. For the cover graphic, you can get one done for you on fiverr.com for $5. When you are ready to put up a sales page for it, you can write one yourself, or find a sales page template you can buy where you can simply fill in the blanks.

Thank you. I have everything squared away in my head now - I was looking for something that doesn't exist and confusing a couple of aspects too (thanks Istvan).
As a writer, all I want to do is write the durn thing, but I have to get involved with things I know nothing about. It will be so much easier the second time around! Thanks for your comments - Karen

There isn't such a thing. You will either have to create your own graphics using something like photoshop or Gimp. Or you can hire a graphic designer to create them.

As far as an opt-in box goes, if you are using an autoresponder like Aweber, you can create your opt-in box there. So it all comes down to hiring someone or creating it yourself. As far as creating an ebook, all an ebook is, is a document turned into a PDF file. You would want to use either Open Office or MS Word 2010.

Thank you for your help - I was looking at EBookGold and a couple of other software packages, they all promise a lot - mainly security features - but I'd rather save my $97 and pay a graphic designer for a logo etc., Word converts .doc to .pdf just fine for free.

That's what I'd recommend. You can secure PDF's as well anyway.

More importantly PDF's can be viewed on any platform. That's not just Windows and Mac (including iPad), but Linux and mobile platforms too. As a long time Mac user, I've never come across any ebook creator software that isn't Windows only. That might not have been an issue for most publishers back in the late nineties, but times have changed.

I highly recommend forking over the $37 for access to the "War Room".. there are SO many invaluable resources there.. including many that pertain to some of the things you are looking for.

I have seen this type of software, although not recently. In all honesty, if you are going to spend any amount of time creating and marketing ebooks, consider learning InDesign and/or Acrobat Pro. There's a learning curve, but you'll also save a LOT of $$ by being proficient in one or both. You can learn everything you need to know (literally) for free by watching relevant (just the functions YOU need, don't waste time on other functions) videos on itunes U or YouTube.

I suspect that no amount of security will avail much in the terms of using a PDF file to distribute content, just because the way a PDF file is so "open" for so many systems, it sort of just "lends" itself to be easy to break into, save your money and consider a different method of distribution.

Just a few tips for you regarding links in the PDF file:

You may want the links live or "clickable" in the document when you convert it to a PDF file. If you are using an MS Word version earlier than 2007 (such as MS Word 2003), the links will not be preserved when you convert it to a PDF file. If you want to preserve the links, I suggest that you use Open Office. It has a built-in PDF converter that keeps the links live.

If you have MS Word 2007, you can go to "Send" at the main menu. Select the option that says Create Adobe PDF and Send for Review. Don't use the Adobe PDF virtual printer to convert your file to PDF if you want to preserve the links.

I'm sharing these tips because I often get PDFs with links that do not work. It can be annoying. I hope this doesn't happen to your readers.
