Legitimate list needs an autoresponder

In my 'real' job I advertise with a national magazine. In return for my money I get the usual directory listing on their site and access to their dbase of visitors who 'opt in'.

Since the visitors are not opt'ing in to hear from me specifically (but supposedly from vendors in my industry and the site itself) the big guys in the autoresponder industry won't let me use their services.

I guess I could be a bit black hat and go offshore and send my first emails that way but that's not really my style. I'd rather find a service that sees that I'm truly complying with all the laws and handle my business.

My first email would have the recipient (the sites visitor) opt in to MY list but it's that first email that aweber, icontact, etc won't let me send.

Suggestions?

Mike

Well the only choice left is to host your own AR. I can give you a free full featured PHP MySQL AR script if your interested and you can add/import your list in it. As long as your host supports PHP and has 1 MySQL DB. PM me for more info...

You can ask the list to opt-in. It is not a spam if you ask for confirmation.

That's what I'd like to do but I'm still having trouble finding a company that will allow me to send this first Permission Pass email.
