How Is Keyword Competition Strength REALLY Calculated?

INTERNET MARKETING

Do any of you guys know (i.e., have factual data to support) how much weight each of these get in determining competition strength?

- Exact Match Domain
- Top Level Domain Listing
- Backlinks
- Index Count
- PR
- Domain Age

Etc.

I see 0 PR domains with a lot of backlinks and I'm not sure whether I can compete or not. Hasn't stopped me from diving in :-)

But I'd still love to hear everybody's thoughts.

No.

That's not just me saying no, I personally don't know.

NOBODY here (or anywhere else) can tell you this.

Because "competition" doesn't mean anything. Every place that shows you a competition score is making it up based on their own formula that they invented, and they might change it tomorrow.

Compiling the data to prove how the score at site A works will take longer than the formula lasts in the first place. While you're figuring out how much weight parameter X gives, they change parameter Y. Then you go to figure out how parameter Y works, and they change parameter X. Now you explain how it works, and you're wrong about both of them.

Multiply that by the number of sites and the number of factors, and you get the reality: it's just not possible to track this.

How Is Keyword Competition Strength REALLY Calculated?

You guys are making it far too complicated.

I use the calculator that came with windows. Just be sure to switch it to scientific mode for the most accurate results.
