How long have you been an Internet Marketer & what has been your biggest lesson along the way?

I have been a full time Internet marketer for nearly 4 years
now. At the start, I made a few bucks here but I was quickly
earning enough to work for myself.

However in 2007 I had the richest year of my life and made
over $200,000 through a number of money making ventures
which began through selling on eBay.

I sold an ebook on ebay for $47.

This then opened up doors to backend sales.

Through the $47 book, I promoted a $77 product.
Through the $77 product, I promoted a $97 product.
Through the $97 product, I promoted a $197 service.

And I was doing well.

Too well, some might say.

In fact for the whole year, many of my friends and family assumed
I was a conman because they had never seen someone make so
'much money for such little work.

Telling them I was just a successful Internet Marketer, was like
'water off a ducks back' - it meant nothing to them.

"Oh well" I thought... so be it.

I knew I was selling legitimate products in a clever way and was
making good amd honest money for it.

I thought it would never end - I had found the gold at the end of
the rainbow.

Money was coming in too fast for me to spend...

... or so I thought.

In March earlier this year, it all came to an immediate halt when
ebay decided to change their policies regarding the selling of digital
items.

I was shell shocked. This was my business. My income stream. It all
began with eBay.. I had no knowledge of anywhere else as big as
ebay where I could move over to.

I had no articles which brought traffic, I had no hoplinks through
Clickbank... my income stream started with eBay and without it
I was in trouble.

Where had all my money that I had made gone? I had moved into a
very nice 2 bedroom house.. I had all the boys toys (plasma Tvs,
sports car etc..) you could ask Santa for.

I tried to "burn" the books onto CD and sell it that way, but it just
didn't sell that well after that.

- my journey had come to an end.

In March 2008 I became a job seeker for the first time in over 3 years.

To say I struggled to get a job is an understatement. I hadn't been
officially employed for over 3 years which always went against me in
interviews.

I really felt I was soon to be very broke.
I stopped going out and having fun.
Drinks weren't "on me" anymore.

That was until I decided to "rough it out". I decided to grit my teeth
and work something out online. I was born to work for myself and I
wasn't going to let the eBay policy change ruin that.

I contacted hundreds of successful marketers and struck deals with
them in and through doing so, managed to put together a site that
now makes me over $10,000 per month and has been doing so now
for over 5 months now.

Not only that, but thanks to advice from other warriors on here I now
sell 2 of my own products and many affiliate products online.

My biggest lesson here and one I desperately want to share with you
all (especially newbies)... is DON'T PUT all your eggs in one basket -
because you really don't know what's round the corner.

When you begin to make money, don't start splashing it around. Put
some away for a rainy day. Be sensible with the money.

You may soon become (or may already be) richer than all your friends,
however although very easy to do, don't become a pompus SOB.

I learned the hard way that you can lose money just as fast as you
can make it.

Don't make the same mistake as me and take it all for granted.

I got a lucky break when I thought it was all over. But you may not
be as lucky.

Thats my story. What's your story? How long have you been an Internet Marketer? What major lesson(s) have you learned along the way that you care to share?
