Adult content-friendly SMTP relay service

Hey guys, I have a little bit of a dilemma.

I have a couple lists, the bigger one is non-adult and I'm running it with Aweber, but the smaller one (half it's size but still big) involves direct marketing adult content which is prohibited by Aweber and it seems there are very little (none?) choices as far as 3rd party autoresponder services are concerned.

So we're going to try to host our own autoresponder on a dedicated server, but everything I read says the only way to get a reasonable delivery rate is to use an smtp relay service and put the mail through them, except i can't find any SMTP relay services that allow adult content either. So my questions are:

1) Does anyone know a not-so-strict SMTP relay service that will allow adult content emails?

2) Will I be able to maintain a large email list (it will be into the tens of thousands anyway) without getting blacklisted and what's the best way to go about doing that?

Thanks again in advance for any help you can give me. I'm going to be out for a couple hours so I won't be able to respond right away.

Oh, and if you don't know the answer but can steer me toward someone or some site/forum that might be more familiar with adult email marketing services or smtp relay that allows adult content I'd appreciate that too. Thanks.

You might be better off asking on somewhere like Netpond ™ ... or http://www.ynot.com They should have a better idea I would have thought.

      John,

We might be able to help you with setting proper mail server. As to 3rd party SMTP what if they policy changes? I say best invest a bit more and send via own SMTP.

I would rather just use my own ISP's SMTP or whatever, as long as I knew it would be able to handle a lot of email going out and as long as I wouldn't run too high a risk of being blacklisted. I mean, we'll be running a legitimate list, probably using Interspire Email Marketer (I realize the software might not be too important, but good software will help us keep track of our list members better and lower the risk of complaints and what not)

I just keep reading that hosting your own large list is asking for trouble, and that it would only work with an smtp relay service like smtp.com or dnsexit (neither allows adult content)

I would take Nigel's advice. As a former adult webmaster myself, those are two great places to go for help for adult-related business.

Yeah, I just signed up today at those sites but they haven't 'officially' approved me and I can't post posts just yet. Hopefully they'll have an idea.

Your best bet would be to talk to the affiliate managers for the products/services you want to promote. They are in the business and probably have a list of resources available to you
