why does my site look different in IE to Firefox..??

Hi all --

Can anyone help please....

I have just finished using kompozer to create a new website.

Everything looks O.K. in Mozilla Firefox but when I go to Internet Explorer it all shows up to the left side and half way down the page the text is a lot bigger.

I have no idea why...and it's driving me s-l-o-w-l-y i-n-s-a-n-e.

Any help would be very gratefully received.

Thank you,

Unfortunately this is totally common. IE is always a little different. The rendering engine is slightly out of whack. MS also thought it would be a good idea use proprietary formats.

This IE thing has driven me mad, and is still an open sore for an odd css/IE issue I haven't been able to figure out yet.

Sorry for your troubles. The fix is usually specific files (css) when the browser is detected as IE

IE does it own thing unfortunately and each version is a little different.

The best way to do it is make sure you use the standard fonts and use tables.

Unfortunately, all too common. I try to test all my HTML using firefox, IE, and Mac's Safari browsers. I think the only sure-fire solution is to either do the code entirely by hand or to go in and manually tweak the code after you've used your favorite HTML Editor.

Don't go blaming it all on IE before you've seen the code that this editor put out...

If you share the site maybe we can help.

            jenn x,

to which version(s) of IE are you referring?

We have seen similar issues with our site in IE 6 but then it looks fine in IE 7 and Firefox.
We have even seen IE "behave" differently on different versions of Windows ;(

As our other Fellow Warriors mentioned, Yes, these types of IE issues seem to be all too common ;(

I hope this helps and Have a Great Day!
