Why you must insure you are SUCCESSFUL and NEVER give up on internet marketing.

Hey Guys,

I'm making this post today because I just spent 5 horrific days in the hospital with my girlfriend's father. He was undergoing a kidney transplant. I knew the man extremely well, he is a very smart attorney, was paid A LOT of money to save corporations millions.

Initially the surgery was a success, but all of a sudden his numbers dropped to a scary scary low. Amazingly enough he pushed through and 5 days later the man actually walked around the hospital.

The funny thing is this mans health deteriorated due to stress and his work environment.

During his the 30 year road to his top career position he was diagnosed with diabetes, which came on because he was not taking good care of himself, body and mind. The drugs that he was taking gave a side effect that damaged his gall bladder, it had to be removed. The drugs also damaged his kidneys and began the road to dialysis.

He was lucky to get a kidney.

The reason I'm telling you all of this is because a lot of the times I feel as if the beginner internet marketer does not respect the lifestyle of owning your own successful business. I see many people searching for short cuts and jumping from method to method.

Having freedom to live your life healthy and happy is an amazing feeling.

When I say freedom I'm not talking about the ability to buy a private jet.

  • I'm talking about the ability to put everything down at 3:00 o'clock and go running for an hour, or go to the gym.
  • The ability to spend time with your families.
  • The ability to wake up one day and say I need a break, I'm going hiking.
Humans were not meant to be stuck in offices all day. To be under stress of the decisions that 12 people make sitting in chairs around a conference table. They sit and discuss how to make the shareholders happy, not on how to make their own employees happy. You know the ones that produce millions for them.

While you may be able to work your way up to those millions, this man spent 30 years doing so...

That is 30 years of abuse to his body and mind.

------------------------------------

If you are going to attack Internet Marketing, you need to attack it with brute force. I know how it is sometimes...

You are building sites that are not necessarily producing anything for you. The motivation sometimes is not there, and yes, when you get that first sale you will feel a push for motivation, but then, sales don't come in again for a week or two and you feel that stress of giving up.

It's tough working for yourself and working for just potential at first.

but you have too.

------------------------------------

It took me 7 years, the first three I just worked for potential, I made some money, but that money I made from working for clients, still not working for myself yet. Now I live the life of freedom.

------------------------------------

I apologize for the rant, lots of emotions ran through my head thepast 5 days. I felt that I somewhat underestimated the ability to be free.

My thoughts are with you, your girlfriend and her father.
I'm glad he's on the mend now, and the transplant will really make a huge difference to his quality of life.

My brother suffered from kidney disease all his life, needing regular dialysis from a very early age (and in those days there was no chance of a machine at home). His life improved so much during the periods he had his transplanted kidneys (He had two).

So I agree with you 100% life is too short to stress over things like a job.
(I still work full time - but I've never been one to suffer from stress. I guess when you see illness and death from an early age you realise that family is all that is important).

Although I am currently in the "working for potential" stage as you say, I definately do agree that the freedom to lead your life without restrictions is a huge motivating factor for myself.

I currently work full time but luckily my work stress is manageable and not excessive. I have seen what work stress can do to someone first hand and I have always held on the mantra "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life". Not everyone has that opportunity but I have and I am looking to expand it with even more freedom with my IM efforts.

Thanks for this post as it always nice to have a reminder as to why we are doing these things. And to not lose sight of the big picture and what really matters.

Thoughts with you and your extended family.

Sorry to hear about your girlfriends father. Glad to hear he's doing better. As a total rookie, I am working for potential freedom. That's all I want. I work full time and I'm a full time student. However, I spend more time IM. I'm looking to make 500/week within the next 5 months only through affiliate sites. Is this unrealistic?

Yes, our health is much more important than money! Any time I see someone talk about how much money they are making, my next thought is.. "How many hours a week do your work?" and "How healthy are you?"

Often the answer to those last two questions makes me suddenly not so envious.

I always try and mix in some free time, exercise and fun with hard work. Sadly some people seem addicted to work and just can't take a break and it takes its toll on their health.

    Hey LMC,

A great story of inspiration to all of us and our prayers to your girlfriend and her father. May god bless them. You are right, stress is a very hard thing to combat against because in most cases you are not in a situation to control it. Which is why if you can succeed on your own, it makes whatever you do, easier to deal with because it is for you. Once again thanks.

Absolutely brother. It aint just about the money.

I love hitting the gym whenever I feel like it, or doing anything for that matter.

Traffic jams, corporate meetings, stress and annoying managers can blow me.

Great post, and my thoughts are with your girlfriend's father during his recovery.

Many times we hear people complain about "working for potential" in IM, as you pointed about above, but the alternative is frightening, as you have detailed.

Would you rather focus and work hard for a relatively short time getting your internet business off the ground, shaking aside any and all notions about "overnight" IM success, or do you want to take the corporate route and work your butt off for many years working practically non-stop to build someone else's business??

Look, there is no "magic pill" that is going to make you an overnight success in IM. But you need to have vision, and look forward into the not-so-distant future where you'll be able to enjoy life on your own terms without having to answer to a boss or deal with all the little and not so little inconveniences of working for someone else. Imagine being able to take time off whenever you need to, and even go away on vacation at a moment's notice (and still be able to work while away in some exotic location, since the internet knows no boundaries!)

This sort of amazing freedom and flexibility is available when you do business and market on the internet. Do not take it for granted, and focus on doing everything you need to get there, because it is totally worth it to live this internet lifestyle - the alternative is unthinkable!

Nice to see how humble you can be LMC. I'm currently in the "employed full time" rut and I hear you loud and clear when you talk about being cooped up in the office.

I live in San Diego! I should be at the beach right now, running in the sand! Instead, I'm sitting at my cube pondering if I should stretch for a minute or send out this "URGENT" email that I keep avoiding....

You're a true inspiration. i wish your girlfriend and her father happy days ahead. Thank you for you're awesome posts!

PS - I've decided on the stretch

You are absolutely right. The rat race is an absolute unnatural way to live. It causes stress, unhappiness, and it doesn't yield much unless your in the top 10 or 20 percent.

I was so sad in having a 9-5 job. Especially when I had relatives who came to visit. I could not enjoy their visit because I was stuck in a regular job all day that had no flexibility in the hours I worked. And after work, I was drained. That is one reason why IM is so appealing. I think anyone who is disgusted by the inflexibility but who hasn't hit the lottery should definitely look at IM and read up and continue to try and find their way.

This thread has spoken so much sense that I have to thank you right now.
I'm only 18 years old and feel the soul crushing pain that having a 9-5 job is.
You come back drained and demoralized.
I actually had to quit because I was that depressed. I'm currently writing articles for people and building websites that generate revenue.
When you mentioned not respecting the amazing lifestyle that Internet Marketers have it really hit me and made me relate to many things.
I feel as though I'm still working in potential mode but I'll soon shift that and work on a large scale basis in realism mode.

    Here's my story:

I first got involved in IM in 2009 - summertime. I had some help got a site up and sold an ebook for 7 dollars..To my surprise I made a few sales! That is when the light came shining down.

In any case - for the next few months I wasn't making any real money online so i kinda stuck in on the back burner until last summer when I quit my job to pursue online 100%

It was a big risk, but that can come with a big reward and it has.

Since last summer I've made over 200k online

Moral of the story - don't give up.

      something similar happend to me.

Sometimes you need a small breakthrough for the clouds to open and up and inspire you to take things further. Then the big results come.

I am sure you know what i mean.

Greats words of advice, freedom is ultimately what everyone wants..

For me I am just starting out right now as an IM, and I'm putting in 110% as I know there is a lot of effort required to get to where I want to be. And FREEDOM is very close to it!

Good story and thanks for sharing!
