Poor quality articles.

I outsourced some articles and they came back pretty poor. The content is useful and original though.

I don't particularly want to upload this to my ezinearticles account, because even if they do get accepted I don't want to be putting shoddy outsourced articles on there.

Is there anywhere I can upload them that doesn't have as strict quality control?

Why don't you just edit them yourself and still use them on Ezine? Just revamp them and use them.

Personally, if I were you I would contact the writer and ask for them to be done again. Some writers won't care and wouldn't bother doing them again for you, but many writers will do them again to keep a good reputation.

Otherwise, do a quick rewrite so that they are good enough to publish.

I agree, bring it up to the writer if they refuse then it should only take a few to run through and re-write them.
I actually ran into a problem like this recently, the terrible thing was the writer did try to re-write them for me but he just wasn't able to make them fluent, error free English. So I paid him and told him not to worry about it. I ended up having to re-write them myself.

I second the motion to rewrite the articles before you submit them (or ask your writer to do them again.)

You don't want to build your business on bad content, even if you're just using them for links.

      Hi Tom,

This case also demonstrates that the outsourced article should be proofread, especially when you are working with a new or inexperienced writer. If I were you, I'd rewrite them, if your writer is unable to fix the questioned parts - as suggested above.

My next step would be to seek another writer.

      All the best,

      Sandor

I had the same problem. I tried to rewrite them and ended up spending the same time as if I could write them myself.

Not to mention Tom Stoppard, probably the world's leading and most successful playwright, who used to be a Czechoslovakian (as it was known then) writer before becoming an English writer.

Not to mention Jacob Bronowski, who used to be a Polish writer before becoming one of the world's bestselling English writers in the 1970's.

          Etc. etc.

True, but Nabokov was raised in a trilingual home and was exposed not only to the English language at an early age, but also it's nuances. Realistically, an article writer, particularly one from a non-English speaking childhood, isn't likely to understand the fine tuning of their non-native language. I understand French but mangle the language verbally, because I wasn't immersed in a French-speaking culture as a child.
Bottom line, you can tell if an article was written by someone who was raised without consistent exposure to a language they attempt to write. The result, rather than flowing, has sudden grammatically correct (but not verbally used in the native language) stops. The writing itself isn't wrong, but awkward.

I wouldn't upload them to any directory if you feel the content is not upto much. Re write them (or have it done for you) before submitting - there's already so much average stuff out there, why get tarred with the same brush ?

I agree with "all the above", really.

One way or another, you need to improve the articles, rather than lowering the standard of sites where you use them.

And get looking for other writers: outsourcing is a bit of a numbers game. There's no completely reliable way of telling who's going to turn out to be both (a) good enough and (b) reliable enough, and you should always be looking for potential writers, really.

I agree - to a point. You mention there is "useful and original content" but the articles are "poor".

That tells me you probably outsourced to the cheapest writers you could find. When you do that you should plan to do some basic rewriting of articles as you are probably hiring someone with either no experience or with challenges in the area of English usage.

The thing that attracts visitors that is quality if there is no quality then there is no need to publish them at any directory because it will put negative impression. its better to waste them and write new ones.
Recently Google updated its algorithm for low quality sites so stay away from the kinds of writers who have not creativity.

Definitely bring it up with the writer, like it's been said, any writer worth paying money to will be happy to ensure the product they're delivering is up to the standard their clients are expecting.

Worst comes to worst, you get a snippy email back from them and now know that you'll HAVE to do some editing yourself to bring it up to a standard you find acceptable.

Definitely the best solution as you've got a good chance of a fantastic outcome (rewrite of articles and refining your writers abilities) and worst case you end up doing what you're already considering doing.

You must provide value, that is the thing that attracts most. If there is no quality then there is no need to publish them at any directory because it will put negative impression. I suggest you to outsource good writers with great reputation or write these articles yourself.

I've been sick for a few days so this may be a dream of some sort. Are you telling me that there is a thread on here promoting quality articles and not a hint of "spin those articles into 10 other articles with super-dooper-$hit-spinner and blast those puppies out to 100 article directories"? I think I still have a fever....

How much did you pay for this article?

That fact seems to be missing here.

Sigh, there's so much crap out there, do we really want to add to it..?

If you want to get by cheaply, I would find a first-year student (preferably in an Arts subject) who wants to supplement their income while at college and form a relationship with them, keep work coming their way, teach them something about researching content, SEO etc. They ought to have enough writing skills to outdo that non-native $1-an-article guy every time. Pretty much a win-win - I would have been blown away to be offered $5-$10 to write articles when I was a student as I found writing a piece of cake (and still do).

P.S. I am basically bilingual in English and Serbian and would still NEVER dare write anything in Serbian for publication. A native speaker is a native speaker.

Haha, I like the way this thread is going.

I admit I didn't pay much. I think I will just rewrite them myself and remember not to get articles from the same place again.

    Thanks

In my opinion and experience, nothing beats writing your own subject matter. Even if you consider yourself a poor writer, the fact that you know your own subject matter means you are well ahead of the posse when it comes to being expert about your chosen subject.

Get a writer to tidy it up for you afterwards if you need to, this can cost far less than writing from scratch, the subject matter is correct and the document looks fresh and highly polished.

    Regards,

    Clive.

Low quality articles will make you look like an idiot who's trying to make money online, and kill any momentum you've already gathered. Ditch those articles and leave it to "a lesson learned."

Not to mention that if you're looking for SE rankings for them, the recent Google algo updates are slapping poor quality - and Bing already ignores shoddy stuff.
