DLGuard- is it simple for a technical moran?

I have been working on a membership site, that isnt live yet.

I have heard good things about DLGuard, but for a technical dunce like me, is it easy to use and are there some other options out there.

And With DLGuard, is there an ebook, or someone I can pay to coach me or set it up all toghether.

    It's easy to use and the guy who sells it has been known to help people if they have trouble figuring anything out.

    Unlike most scripts that run on a server, it comes with a Windows program to easily install it. (If you don't have Windows the install can be done manually.)

    I've not used DLG for a membership site, but I have found it very easy to use. There is a forum for questions, plus Sam Stephens is #1 in my book for helpful product owner.

    pretty simple.

    Maybe a day or two learning curve...but you will get the hang of it quick.

    I've helped install DLGuard, written custom scripts for it, and done various other things related to it. I can assure you, it's quite simple to set up, and very simple to use. Sam has put together some good guides within the program (and here) that help you through everything, and there is also a forum dedicated to DLGuard here

    Sam Stephens is a fantastic guy and is extremely willing to help those in need. I'm hoping that he'll chime in on this thread

    Sam also offers installation services - contact him about it...

    once it is installed everything is super easy, i am still always surprised how easy it is to add new products, get links for buttons etc..etc..

    I remember, before i had DLG it took me the longest time just to create paypal buttons on the paypal site...now i add a new product, enter my price, get the link and done

    DLGuard is designed for ease of use, and I have a LOT of beginners using it. At the same time it's also quite powerful for those that like to push software to it's limits, so as you grow, it'll continue to serve your purposes!

    Now I love DLG. I helped a lady with her DLG membership site and created custom scripts to manage incremental content and such. But for a newbie or technically challenge person, I just want to remind you that DLG does not come with a content management system.

    With any membership site, you need a way to accept payment, control access to your site and a way to manage your website. DLG handles #1 and #2, but you still need something to manage your website, and you have to integrate it with DLG.

    If you can manage HTML websites, then you can go ahead. I've heard of ways where you can integrate your content management systems with DLG. Don't remember where and how. But if you've got that tackled, DLG will be great...

    Not quite sure though but I think you can only take recurring Paypal for the membership site.

    Well I am fairly technical but I did have an issue getting DLGuard setup on my server. The problem was with my host (Bluehost) and more specifically the php rules that my host uses. I managed to figure it out eventually but it was a bit of a time sink.

    However having said that I submitted a support ticket (10 mins before I fixed it lol!) and they got back to me very quickly.

    Basically it's easy to setup but if you get an error when you try to access the admin area then it might be a php issue. If you don't know how to fix it just ask them to fix it. Sam seems very helpful.

    i haven't used it for a membership site yet but adding products is super easy and all the features are pretty nice as well. although i wish they had a way to bulk create products. i had to create and clone over 200 products and i'm thinking about adding another merchant

    Very true - though I designed DLGuard this way for a reason.

    Built in CMS's can be very restrictive, and I've had a lot of people choose DLGuard simply because they don't want the restriction a built-in CMS imposes.

    Basically you need to have your own website and sales page. However you created that is the same way you create your member pages.

    Standard HTML webpages created in Frontpage/Dreamweaver/XSitePro? Nice and simple.

    Or for people interested in a CMS, they've usually already selected something like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.

    And then you have the more advanced users who have scripts or a service they've created, and just need something to protect it. This can't be done through a built-in CMS system. DLGuard makes it very easy to do.

    So bascially I designed DLGuard's memberships this way so that people don't need to create their whole members area again - DLGuard can slot straight into whatever they're using.

    It's all about the flexability, and offering people the option to do whatever they want.
