How could I monetize a generic keyword?

Anything can be monetized online and a low competition keyword definitely has a huge prospect. Since its a generic keyword, make a few blog post optimized around it. Adsense is the best way to go, at least at the very start, since it'll provide a nice way to gauge the market. Make sure you add Adsense channels for this so as to get a more accurate picture as to where your site visitors are clicking. There are plenty of videos on youtube explaining the process for adding channels in your adsense account. Then check these ads on your blog (Don't click them) and see for yourself whether these ads are for affiliate products or other content sites.

Do some more thorough keyword research based on this generic keyword and try to find more long tail keywords which have a more "buying sense". In case, you're not able to find any then try swapping affiliate product blocks for adsense blocks on your blog. Test, test and test.

In case you are interested in a more aggressive approach, then it will be a good idea to make an entire site based around the keyword. But only do this if your generic kW is equal to or less than 3 words. By making such an authority site in your niche you can definitely sell it afterwards for a greater profit(Of course this also depends on the niche itself).

CPA offers are one way you could monetize. Look for an offer that would require just an email for you to get paid. Try to find something that would be the best match for the general niche your keyword is in.
