If you're prepared to work for your money why not offer a service instead?

Even though your post is small, it appears you can write. Why not write articles? There are tons of Warriors willing to pay for that.

Hi, While I have been around online for a good while, the only program I found that really helped me is IMWithJamie.com. You get a weeks free trial or if you have a few dollars to spend it is 197 a month. The one thing that makes me willing to pay that amount is you get his cellphone number, a line he has dedicated to his students. Another selling point is only 30 students to a class. These are held as webinars and all the ones I have seen go way over the 1.5 hours advertised because he wants to make sure all questions get answered to the fullest. His patience in my opinion is astronomical, answering what must often be the same question over and over again with zero attitude. Some of the so-called gurus if you do get an answer to an email for help make you feel like an idiot for even asking! This guy is the bomb in my opinion. I am planning and just got hosting for a review site about his course. When it is up I will post it for you. Good Luck!

Being able to type in English =/= being able to write articles.

Well you are somewhat right, being a Native English speaker doesn't automatically mean you can write. But if you follow a formula for writing it's very easy to do even if you are terrible at writing things ordinarily. So OP I wouldn't discount this opportunity if you feel you are up for the challenge.

I agree. The person who started this thread knew to hyphenate the word 'non-technical'. He (or she) also phrased the post well. That puts him (or her) in the 'able to write' category, as far as I'm concerned.

I also agree with MJ's suggestion to join the War Room and read everything you can. (I should have suggested that, and I'm glad someone else did!)
In addition, cautiously check the advice of people with few posts (and fewer thanks) here, particularly those who are recommending something they're actively promoting in their signature.

Also, though I hate to even mention this: Anyone can have multiple accounts at the Warrior Forum, so the person may actually be recommending a product they're selling under a different username.

That said, there are some wonderful people at the Warrior Forum. I've received tremendous advice from many of them!
Also, I found Dan Brock's early summary of selling as an Amazon affiliate. He's not selling anything, just sharing advice in that thread. http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...print-you.html

If you skim that thread you'll get a good idea of the foundation of his course. Reading that thread convinced me to buy his current WSO, and I haven't regretted it at all... but that may reflect how well his advice matches my interests.

No two people will give you the same advice. It's best to see what sounds like a good match for your interests, regardless of the claims of success. Success can be inflated or outright falsified with altered screenshots.

By contrast, enthusiasm is difficult to fake, and it's easiest to become successful if you're enthusiastic about whatever-it-is, as well.

Agreed 100%. Start out offering services. This accomplishes a few things:

1.) You start making money immediately.
2.) You build up a list of contacts.
3.) You earn money to start outsourcing and building a proper system.

    Hi Chouxbear,

First I'd avoid any "How to be a millionaire" rubbish. Have a look online for Ed Dale and The Challenge, it's free and a very good introduction to IM.

Failing that and you have some change knocking around, I'd look up Paul Barrs, on this forum and his Maximum Success University, which I've seen and consider excellent.

Neither are hype and neither promise millions, they do however give you a viable business.

There's some good stuff out there and a huge amount of crap peddled by people that have no right to sell it.

    Be careful what you buy.

I agree completely. It's a great way to learn the fundamentals of internet marketing. Ed is an honest guy, and the training is built around making your first $1 online. And like Richard said, it's free.

    Ho chouxbear,
There is no such thing as "the best system". Various systems have their own advantages and disadvantages, but to find your very own "best IM systmem", I would try and at least a few and start implementing the bits which appeals to you most. With time you will develop your own unqiue system and that will be a combination of many that you will learn.

But that's a philosophy, here is some practical tips.
I personally tried quite a few before everything "fell into place".
I would recommend you a few:
Brian Jackson - Commission Ritual and Comission Ritual Extended.
    Kim Roach - Traffic dashboard.
    Mark Lyng - AffiloBlueprint.

If you only can afford one at the moment, I'd start from Brian Jackson Commission Ritual (It was $97 for 90 videos).

    Hope that helps.

If I was starting again I'd not rush to buy too many products. My suggestion would be to build a list. You can do this in a number of different ways. There's a lot of info for free on this forum about this and many other techniques that can work for you.
Also if you are willing to invest in your developement I'd suggest upgrading to the war room.

    Good luck.

Agree with Rich. Build your list. I started years ago, didn't build my list the way I should have been and NOW, years later I am building my list again the right way.

Number two, try to upgrade to the war room, that goes for everyone, there is a ton of info. in the war room that might not make it's way to the regular forum here. It's a one time payment of 37.00, well worth it.

A simple thing you can do that will give you a lot of the necessary skills:
    Choose a niche
    Find forums in that niche
Spend time in those forums, PARTICIPATE
Figure out a problem a lot of the people are having
Spend a week doing research and gathering information
Write it up in a 20-40 page PDF
    Sell it through Paypal

I'll confess that I'm turning 60 this year, so I understand the challenges and contexts of someone in my generational neighborhood.

I've tried lists and I was not impressed with the response. That's partly because I'm worthless at hawking products (and hate doing so), but also because I think we've reached the saturation point with many readers who no longer have time to read much of what shows up in their in-boxes.

I've replaced my own lists with Feedburner updates automatically sent to people who sign up for them. It's been one of the best things I've done, in terms of word-of-mouth (and social media) exposure... as well as popularity and income. It's been far better than maintaining lists.

(I think that also reflects the loss of the "ooh, shiny" factor of emails, as well as the plummeting integrity among many online marketers.)

Writing can be good... very good, in fact. I highly recommend CreateSpace.com where you can become your own publisher and sell your books/audios/videos at Amazon.com with almost zero up-front money. All you do is buy a proof copy (at wholesale) to verify that the finished product looks good. Then, the book is in the queue to start selling at Amazon.com.

PM me if you have questions, and -- as time permits -- I'll happily point you towards what's worked for me.

I recently purchased Dan Brock's Amazon-related product and it's easily the best WSO I've bought in a very long time. However, I've been online for many years and I have other products that mesh well with Dan's course; my rave review may not reflect a novice's experiences. (See Page 5 of the WSO thread related to that course. My lengthy review is near the bottom of that page.)

I recommend a three-pronged approach: I write books (and I'm a fine artist) for most of my income.

In my free time, or when I just need to take a break from my regular work routine, I create niche-specific websites. I monetize them with AdSense and/or Amazon affiliate sales, depending on the niche.

So, if you're just starting out and you can write well -- as the quality of your post suggests -- I recommend writing books to sell via CreateSpace.com (a division of Amazon.com).

And, while you're working on your books, take a course like Dan Brock's and build a few Amazon-related websites. (You can see how you like that approach with Blogger websites, before investing in your own domains & hosting. That way, your main up-front cost is just Dan's course.)

It's key to narrow your focus as much as possible. Two-and-a-half careers is my limit: Art, writing, and niche websites. I don't get involved in building sites or selling ads for offline clients. I don't sell through Clickbank. I don't build mailing lists. I do some article marketing and things like Squidoo lenses, but only as PR for my niche sites and my books. I don't set up membership sites. I don't give webinars or sell my own reports. (If I know enough for a report, it's going to become a book; that gives me better long-term income, per product created.)

Yes, I may be leaving a staggering amount of money on the table. I know that. I'm simply a firm believer in doing one thing well before adding the next whatever-it-is.

The biggest risk for anyone online is that "ooh, shiny" temptation to spread yourself too thin.

I'm still at the beginning of Dan Brock's Amazon-related course, but -- so far -- it looks like something I should have learned about years ago. I definitely recommend it, especially at its current price.

(Added plus for an author selling at Amazon.com: Everything I learn about promoting other people's products, as an Amazon affiliate, can be applied to marketing my own books, audio books, etc.)

    I hope that helps!

      Hey Choux !

If you're a newcomer to IM - such as me - I'd highly suggest you to start with micro service sites such as Fiverr.com. Just check out my signature for an example of micro service.

I started to go into the IM thing about two weeks or so. I first tried to buy some course claiming to make me a millionaire in a few weeks.

I said : "you're kidding, right ? It cannot be THAT easy ?!"

But I paid for 'em... Total noobeness ! At least, their sweet system didn't work for me

Anyway, I discovered Fiverr thanks to the WF. And I signup up last Saturday evening.

      I already made 11 sales ! It equals to about 2 - 3 sales a day. So, I would get approximately 240 - 360 dollars per month...

Not so good, but it can pay for additional courses, no ?

Affilojetpack seems to be the best course on the market. It rocks !

I guess the key element to success in IM is repeating what works like a robot.

Im gurus out there. What do you say to that ? Is that right ?

For a newbie, stay away from the high priced courses and whatnot. They will only confuse you and you'll be out of pocket. I would start by either offering a service, I write for my bread and butter or check out affiliate marketing. There is so much free informational gold on this forum, that you shouldn't really ever need to pay for a high priced guru course. If you really want to get a course then I would say make the investment into the War Room membership on here. There are some truly excellent strategies and tips in there, not to mention some good courses that are free from experienced warriors.

Before you run in and start buying unlimited courses you should first get your head around the basics of how internet marketing works and then from there you can branch out to other ideas, like someone pointed out you should look up Ed dale and the 30 day challenge,go over that to get an idea of the business before you do anything else.

Some great points here, I'm also a visual artist doing IM to add to my income and for some variety in my work. I agree on concentrating on one thing, having patience and just cranking away with some quality articles for backlinking. I've had luck putting together a link ring with web 2.0 sites: Squidoo, Blogger even Live Journal and one or two article sites pointing to my niche site.

I also use Youtube quite a bit to build adsense income on videos of my art work. This has been ramping up for about a year and looks promising.

After 4 months I'm starting to see a steady increase in Amazon and Adsense.

Spend your money joining the war room on his forum. Read until your head hurts, sleep, repeat - everyday until you form a plan. This will give you an idea where to start and give you an idea on the type of service you feel comfortable providing. I don't like to write content, so I spend $100-$200 per week on outsourcing content creation. I enjoy the cold calling and selling. I get my websites up - add the purchased content - publish - Sell - sell sell! Specialize in what works for you. I have no adsense site, no affiliate marketing sites - but I specialized in the area I feel comfortable, both making and selling.

Don't buy any programs! There is enough FREE info online already ( especially here at WF)...

Getting targeted traffic is the biggest challenge for marketers, regardless of what type of product you would like to sell.

There are NO push button systems PERIOD! So don't get sucked into all the hype online.

chouxbear, I've just started The Challenge, and I'm kind of an "intermediate newbie" - simply meaning that I've wasted a lot of time and money over the past year or so without really knowing what I was doing. So far I find the program very good. It is slow, methodical and step-by-step. Sometimes I wish it would move faster. But I have to admit I'm learning new things, and relearning (properly) things I thought I knew.

It's free, as others here have said. So there's no risk. I don't think I can post a link, but just google Ed Dale and The Challenge. Or maybe this will be okay - challenge DOT co

        Best of luck!

chouxbear, me again. I also STRONGLY recommend Niche Blitzkrieg. Very easy to follow and systematic - although I believe "The Challenge" gives more basic training on market research, understanding "why," etc. But NB is great. There is also a relatively new service called Niche Optimizer (run by a terrific young guy named Justin Lewis) that will actually create an optimized, all original niche website for you for a pretty reasonable cost. HOWEVER (note all caps) - I would strongly suggest you do the training first, learn how to identify a viable market, niche, etc. before paying someone to make a site for you. And in fact, you can definitely do it yourself with not too much effort once you know the basics.

      Best of luck to you!

Amen, Brother Bob!! Starting any business online without a website is like living under a bridge until you can afford to pay rent. Go here: http://wealthlpp.com/jvinvite It's free, no strings attached, no credit card and has little to do with IM and everything to do with starting a real business you can build both on and offline. It's all on the video.

Target offline industrial markets through the many contacts you've collected for the past 1/2 century of real life experience all piled up like a gold mine you forgot about. Add the war room membership and you're ready to ask yourself the million dollar question. Get the answer right and the million dollars is yours.

Has anyone heard older people can't learn anything new or something like that? The reason why you can't teach an old dog new tricks is because there are no new tricks - he knows them all already.

You're still young at 70 but anything you don't already know isn't worth spending your time on. Learn how to delegate and then figure out what you WANT to do besides make money. People focus on making money and that's precisely why they will never make any real money. Find what you LIKE and then pick whatever you WANT to do because you enjoy doing it and then money will follow.

I've got the new Sean Donohoe program I haven't had time to even look at yet. If you want to see what it's all about that would be great. I've also got Bring the Fresh that I never use. You can be my new partner and help me out with all that un-zipping even though I don't think you need to learn all that stuff. You might find what you WANT to do and that's a different story so let me know and that includes any other curious newbies too.

btw - Can anyone write good articles worth publishing for more than just a couple of backlinks?

OK. As one Seasoned Citizen to another, I'm going to give you a roadmap.

    What you need:

1] A hungry market. We call this a niche.
    2] A product to offer
3] A 'storefront'. we call this a website.
4] Customers coming in your 'store'.

None of these things need to cost money. Which is not to say that money spent judiciously on each isn't a good idea. It just doesn't need to be done till you learn where to spend it.

Let's start with number three. Use Wordpress. you don't need to know a thing about coding or technical stuff to build a good website with Wordpress. All you need to know is available free all over the internet.

Number two: For your first product, use Google Adsense. It won't make you rich but in the course of builing websites for Adsense and attracting traffic to them you will learn the skills you need to move on to higher profit things like Amazon, affiliate products, CPA, PLR and eventually your own products, But start with Adsense and stick with it till you have learned the necessary skills.

Number four: Getting traffic is the key to success. In the course of accomplishing the other three things on the list you will be learning about all the different means of attracting throngs of high-quality, motivated buyers to your site.

Notice that I didn't provide links or specific information about niche research, domains, hosting, etc. All of that information is available here on the Warrior forum and in the War Room. It's your mission to seek it out

But as you break it down into pieces some things could be done better, like his driving traffic method. All he is really doing is building auto blogging backlinks. And the article he put on his web site was an exact duplicate of an existing article which Google really frowns on and could get him slapped.
The coolest part I thought was the keyword "research" system and the starred system way to find great keywords. The other thing I thought was cool was the picking of Amazon products by their popularity and price. I don't know if Amazon has a way you can search it's database that way but they probably do. All the things he did could be done with other free tools that I know of except I've never seen those graphs on the keyword itself and it's competing page rank on the first page of Google but that you could look that up too. But he's got all the gadgets you'd probably want in one place. I just wish the price was cheaper--$997.
Now nobody laugh, I bought it, but I'm known for returning just about everything I buy if it's unworthy and you should know that the price only inclueds building 25 websites, (I think I remember) 500 "insights" and 500 "traffic credits. If you want more than these you will pay through the nose. Another 997 to double to order and 1997 to triple it and that is PER YEAR. So I'm thinking about returning it, but I'd encourage people to just watch the video. It teaches quite a few things I didn't know of but then I'm a medium newbie.
I know everybody's going to roll their eyes when I mention this but Marcus Campbell has a $199 course that is for kindergarteners. But it really goes step by step for people who don't know anything about internet marketing. I'd recommend it (now don't everybody start throwing darts at me) You can always return it. By the way when it comes to wanting to return something make sure you buy everything on a credit card, not a debit card. A credit card will go to bat for you and get your money back and a debit card usually tells you to work it out for yourself. They're no help at all.

I'd recommend that you start by making some considerations about what kind of a business you want to have. There are tons of ways to make money online (adsense, cpa, affiliate marketing, creating your own products etc.), so if you don't already have basic knowledge about these, start by looking in to them a bit more.

Once you have the basic knowledge decide how you intend to actually make money from that niche. No matter what niche you choose, I recommend that you build a list, as it can have incredible value in the long term.

There are many systems that are good for a newbie. The important thing however, is to stick to one of these systems untill you start seeing results. When you see results, multiply your efforts. Later on when you are making enough start looking into outsourcing. That's the way it works with most systems.
If it is a good system the first few months it includes a lot of work. The secret is in putting in that work.

You seem to have the right attitude being that you are willing to work hard this will serve you in good stead in the Internet Marketing world as it is like any other business in that you MUST work hard to make it work and even harder to make it a success.
There is no '1 click get rich' scheme that will work and I would steer clear of any of that make me a millionaire stuff do not purchase to many programms, do your research choose a programme that suits you, purchase it and stick with it and stay focused on generating leads and traffic. Stick to 1 strategy at a time and FOCUS.
    Hope that helps

    Hey chouxbear.

You mentioned in your first post the Dan Brock Dead Beat Super Affliate course. You can do a search on that course here at the Warrior Forum, and read some reviews about it. You should find that it is generally favorably reviewed, which is not an easy thing to have happen around here - what with all the varying opinions and backgrounds and approaches.

I'm not a big fan of his presentation style, but it's an above-average course that can get anyone (including a complete newbie) aimed in the right direction, so that you can start to sell physical products (primarily, Amazon products) online. The course begins with the basics of setting up a website and installing WordPress. And proceeds to explain what else is needed to start to make some money.

I think it is still $37, but if you try to exit the sales page before purchasing, you should be able to get it for just $27. And at that price, you have your money's worth.

Forget all the upsells and down-sells and side-sells he throws at you, just buy the basic course (which has a lot in it), and go from there. He also has some advanced training material in the course. You can learn a lot about IM in general through that course. And you can indeed learn a valuable specific IM technique through that course. And if you focus your initial efforts in that direction, and really apply yourself, you should do OK. And the technique is scalable.

All the best in your endeavors.

My personal recommendation would be Erik Stafford and Ross Goldberg's system, "Ultimate Side Income". This system will not show you how to make millions or anything like that, but instead show you step by step on how to replace your bills one at a time.

I was a beta user for this system and I'm proud to say this is worth every penny of the $47 investment and then some. Plus I'm a friend of these guys (as they live in the same county as me) and I can tell you that they know what they are talking about, and will not spread any BS.

You can find out more at ultimatesideincome.com

Join the War Room. Not sure what the price is these days but whatever it is it's worth it. Once you're in there you'll be able to download all kinds of really good information for free.

Many of the free downloads were once successful WSOs. I'm amazed at the quality of some of the stuff. I picked up some software last week that retails for $197 on the creator's site, free. Before you decide on any approach to marketing become familiar with what it's all about. Good luck.

    Hi,
We've all been there my friend. And reading through your replies, you are getting a lot of good advice. The first thing you did right was getting on this forum. Like others have said, you can find a lot of good information. You mentioned interest in Dan Brock's Deadbeat Super Affiliate. It was this course that finally got me going. I was buying everything in site, getting conflicting information...it pretty much turned my mind to mush. When I bought Deadbeat Affiliate, I was finally able to get things going. Dan is a good guy, and watching his videos will simplify your journey significantly. As I'm sure you have already found out, no matter where you start, and no matter how many recommendations you get for "the best product" you are still going to have questions. Then the next problem is who do you trust? If you can connect with someone experienced that will answer your questions, you'll be on your way. I have been sucked into more courses and coaching programs than I care to remember, but there are good ones out there. One I would like to recommend is "imwithjamie". Jamie Lewis just started a new coaching program that I found fantastic, and definitely worth the money. He holds webinars three times a week. I've been on a lot of webinars, but never one like this. Each webinar has a specific theme, ie traffic building, keyword research, finding the right niche, etc. It is fully interactive, just type in your questions, and they definitely will be answered. As a matter of fact, the last 3 I have attended ran for 3+ hours. He WILL answer everyone. This is not the case for the majority of the programs out there. Jamie is sincere, spends quality time with all who ask questions, and NEVER makes you feel like an idiot. As he says in every webinar, he'll be there for as long as you need him. After your webinar, go back to his membership site, and he has great videos to walk you through the basics. You can also view all the past webinars, along with their worksheets and links. There is also a forum where all the members go to pick up on where you left off. Jamie is on the forum often, and it's also another place where you can list what you are having problems with, and Jamie will address it. I have been on overdrive since I joined imwithjamie, and have not been disappointed. Check him out if you want to work with a true Good Guy.

Hope this helps. Email me if you would like to talk. I'll answer any question I can.

One thing to consider is the senior market is huge right now and growing every day. You could find a way to tap into your own life and share your experiences. This could be done with a blog or ebooks or videos...or all of the above.

    For example:
How to cut expenses once you're retired

Starting an online business when you're over 60

    Online dating for Seniors

    Easy online business for Seniors

Making extra money online for Seniors

    Staying in Shape over Sixty

    etc. etc.

At your age I'm sure that you've had plenty of life experiences. Enough to write a book. If I were you, I'd take advantage of that fact and write some type of info product. I'm sure that you know how to do a lot of things that people would pay to learn. Do that and the rest is basic marketing. No special course needed.

I like to queue up my content on my follow up sequence before driving traffic. Otherwise you're feeding a list that's got no revenue means.

I was looking at that too literally, I overlooked the word "queue"

Technically, you only need one followup to start driving traffic, and you can add the rest while the traffic is coming in.

If you are looking to make some money straight away, take a look at outsourcing your services on sites such as Odesk and fiverr. Don't go looking for a 'system'. If you spend all your time searching for this you will just spin your wheels and you will get no where. A perfect system for person A may be terrible for person B. You need to find your niche on the web and take action. Simple as that. Do the work and you will succeed.
