How Has Internet Marketing Helped You Pursue Your Passions?

Hi to all of you, a newbie here and I am looking for some inspiration! This thread has been inspired from reading several of the threads on living the Four Hour Work Week.

I will repeat myself just a bit. Many are saying that if you love what you do, it doesn't count as "work", and since they all love IM, then it's not work.

But what about people like me, who are starting in IM because they want more time to pursue their OTHER passions (mine are travelling and making music, for example).

I would LOVE to hear from you for some awesome inspiration. Is there anybody out there living the so-called "4 Hour Work Week" in the sense that they only need to put in a few hours every day (or week or whatever) and that allows them to pursue other passions?

For example, Any IM-ers who are using their free time to pursue creative interests (write, paint, make music, photography, etc)? Or travel? Or spend more time with their family? Or play tennis? Or start a charity? Or breed dogs? Or....???

I understand and appreciate that life is not about laying around and doing nothing. Far FAR from it. The 4HWW in fact discusses setting up a muse to then be able to spend a lot of time pursuing your real passions.

Anybody out there doing that? It would be so inspirational to hear from you!

Thanks much in advance!
Hannah

I can't say I am living the 4 hours work week but i am my own boss, I can go to the beach and i can take a day off when i want, BUT I have customers so i have to ensure that they get any support they need.

It's really a 2 edged sword, I can make a living from my adsense sites and literally spend a few hours a week working on them. I'll never be massively rich from them UNLESS I spend 8 hours a day working on them and generating new ones.Which i don't want to do.

The other side of the sword is that I create products and I do very well from them and i can earn very good money from them while I am laying on the beach.. BUT I have customers and i have a duty of support to them. So I might be answering your support call while in the bar sipping mojitos or while sat behind my pc for 16 hours a day working on a new product.

Wow this is turning into a ramble ..sorry

IM has helped me live where I want In a beautiful place and not have to worry about where the money to pay the bills at the end of the month are coming from... BUT it's taken time to get here and a LOT of work and a lot of stress... the journey isn't as rosy as some people would have you believe but the destination is worth it.

its a process of never ending progress and improvement. i have been an IM'er for 10 years now, and all i can tell you is, THERE IS NO 4 HOUR WORK WEEK . but it sure has been an amazing ride. ive met hundreds of amazing people over the years, masterminded with incredible geniuses in the industry, and ive helped thousands of people reach their dreams of starting a successful online business. has it been worth it? YES! will i start all over again from scratch? NO!

my advice to you is, hold on to the WHY factor. why do you want to start an online business. whats your purpose, and let the answer be your driving force towards success in this business. cuse let me tell you, you're gonna need it.

  • Well said about the 4-hour week not existing!

If you want to dream of a job like that, then this is the wrong career choice.

It gets so competitive now that you have to spend every second you've got trying to match or get ahead of the competition. Anybody that shows you "proof" of them spending only 4 hours and getting 2-5k or more from it isn't telling you the full story. They've probably spent years getting a mailing list together, then funnelled that down and separated it into buyers and non-buyers.

Then, after getting a list with 10'000+ keen buyers, they've sent a few emails out and that's eventually made them the money. Then, they keep doing it each week.

That's probably the full picture that they don't tell people!

I believe in the 4 houer workweek you have to develop systems and look at you're business with the eyes of an entrepreneure, not an employer There entrepreneurs who manage ob to 200 Business how do you thing they are working in all of them Go Figure

I believe what LuvAbundance wants is actualy possible the thing is just you will ned a lot of financial resources ore time and actualy time is not even a realy good alternative, and then start to build up you're business working fulltime fore arround 2-3 years and start tracking everystep down so you cane find professionals fore each key eriay of you're business train them and find a manager who cane manage everything and report to you daily...there will still be things you need to do but you cane make a lot using an effective 2 houers per day

it's all mindset no time fore limiting believes

        To the Op,

Honestly, I don’t know about a four hour work week. But here is normal week for me. Work every day on my business. But I don’t work all day on the weekends. In addition, when I want to take some time off I just do it.

        Thats the fun part.

In the beginning, there is stuff you’ll have to learn if you expect to be successful. Just visit the forum on a daily basis and read, and you will learn fast. Once you have developed a system of selling you might have to tweak it with your personality to get the best results.

Most important, develop a system that does not leave you emotional drained at the end of the day.

I would not get caught up in the teaching part of the business. What I mean by that is this. Features and Benefits. In the past, that is the way that selling was taught. You will find the customers very receptive to you if you make them feel “cared for”

          Hi to Everybody!

Wow, thanks for posting your answers. I do appreciate it (on a side note, I can't find a "thank" button anywhere...is it because I´m using Chrome? I see other buttons but no thank :confused

There seems to be some mixed answers on the subject (4HWW). From yes, totally possible, to no way man, gotsa put in the hours. My belief (hope) is that the majority of the hours are put in at the beginning, and that once things are up and running that it is possible to put them more on autopilot, so to speak....Of course I still have to prove this with my OWN experience. The overall consensus though is that IM is the alternative career path that IS giving you more freedom and flexibility that you had before.

I would still love to hear more from more people about the specific hobbies and passions that they are now pursuing thanks to the time and freedom Internet Business has given them. Sports, artistic pursuits, travel, hobbies..? I really LOVE those stories.

Thanks again to all of you!

I don't know that its about working less hours.......in fact it may even be the opposite.....but it feels like fun - not work.....and I am so much happier and less frazzled by the small stuff. :-)

    G'day welcome to the forum

My goals when starting this whole im thing was to spend more time with my family and get out of my Trade (baker/Pastrycook) mainly because I worked all night and slept in the day.

After I sold my Bakery I just did not want to work for someone again. I wanted to spend time at home and with the kids, not at some work place getting paid what someone else thought I was worth. You and your $20 an hour mate can get stuffed!

    Have I achieved my goals?

YES and No, I work a few hours in a Local bottle shop, I meet many people and they end up with my card inside thier purchases offering My services. Loads of business people come in and by beer etc.. its a gold mine. SSSHHH.... Its a secret.

Slowly this will make me the business I want as word spreads about what I do, who I am and why I do it.

I love to SELL Its in my blood, I help small business owners by being passionate about marketing, they get passionate about their business again and we do great things together. I charge what they can afford and I get more fees paid in Beer than cash.

So do I live a 4 hour week? Not even close But Whenever the weathers good i go fishing or prawning. When I need a break I go to the families bush Cabin for a day or 2. My Days are My Own pretty much but I am by no means rich. I choose to work nearly everday but if have 2 days off its no big deal.

I replaced my wage, now its on to the next step.

Good luck, Do what you love. If you like Making music then sell it to people on this forum that need backing tracks for thier videos. Start small, build a following and before you know it your the warrior forum Music expert and we all come and see you. 10 sales at $5 is $50 and thats a start!

    Thanks for reading
