First, welcome.

Second, to answer your question, find ONE thing that you think you'd be interested in doing, and do ONLY THAT. Don't get distracted by trying a thousand different things for only a little while. Take some time and look over different options and STICK TO THAT ... ONLY THAT. Put your head down. Don't look up. Know that it will probably take awhile. And keep doing that ONE thing. (I don't know about the system you're following, but if it appeals to you, then keep going with that.)

That said, at a certain point you may find that the one thing isn't working for you and you should move onto something else, but that point is probably much farther down the road than you imagine. Keep going and don't expect immediate results.

As for time management (etc.), I recommend the book Getting Things Done. There are also a lot of threads on this forum where time management and motivation is discussed, and people have simpler solutions than Getting Things Done that may appeal to you. ... You can do a search and find lots.

Ahhh Jessica - I wish you so much success! As a mother of 3 - all I can say is Thank GOD for my mom, and whew, spacing them far out (18-13-3) so big sisters get to help. With a 14 month old - it will be rough, but you can do it. =)

Organization is key. Time management - and stick to your schedule or you'll go nuts. Figure out your niche - write yourself a plan and then follow your plan.

Hi Jessica, if you want sustained income, it would be a great idea to start building niche sites. Outsource this labor to folks here at the Warrior Forum to save yourself some time. Then hire some SEO services here to get your sites to the top of the search engines. Monetize your sites with Adsense, Amazon and Clickbank. Repeat the process until your monthly income is at your desired level.

I miss those days of running after a toddler. My daughters are now teens.

The best tip I can offer that was of value to me when I first started out in 2006 was to find my skill set. I made a list of all the things that I did during my employment as well as my hobbies and interests. I took a good hard look at the list and my love of writing really stood out. I then looked for ways to utilize this skill to make money.

I think that the thing that helps me most is when I actually strap down and focus on making some money. This is the best way to get things done and be successful. Without focus, you will not really go anywhere in IM. I have seen that when I focus on a single method or two that I will start making money.

Be creative and be persistent.

Rarely does a first idea hit payday....that being said... you still can do things that will increase your chances of success...

I like your first goal of making $600 per month.. that 20-30 dollars a day...
do you have a model..... there are hundreds of ways to make that kind of money.. the idea is to follow one all the way thru before you try anything else...
pick the right model for you and learn as much about it and ...i will tell you what you are doing right.....

Another good idea is to search for niche marketing on Youtube. You'll see people actually doing the research for it, etc.

It can be hard to focus on one thing when you have tens of thousands of posts on here....Information overload is a common gripe among newbies! So let me suggest this..

After you decide what to focus on, research it on here but only limit your research to the 5-star posts on that specific area. It will make it easier for you to formulate a good action plan!

I hate to sound like Dr. Doom, but... With soaring energy costs and inflation directly due to it, I think you'd better plan on at least twice that 600/month. By the time you get there, even that might not be enough.

With a toddler, you might want to consider Dragon NaturallySpeaking software to "dictate" instead of keyboarding everything in manually and taking two to five times as long to get it done. (I use the version with a digital recorder and carry that recorder with me at all times for notes and those fleeting "inspirations" that don't have the common courtesy to linger long enough for me to find a piece of paper and something to write with or get to my PC.)

Welcome to the forum, Jessica. I know that it's got to be hard trying to juggle a 14 month old baby at home while trying to do internet marketing.

I think for things to really work, it is going to boil down to effective time management and organization. It'd probably be very hard to accomplish anything with a baby scurrying around underfoot, so what you really need to try to do is block out at least one or two hours of uninterrupted time daily where someone else is watching the baby for you (or he's fast asleep), and you can give your undivided attention to your internet marketing.

It may be difficult to do this consistently, but this is what will definitely help to accelerate your progress, and keep you focused and productive with your internet marketing.

As a mom, this is what I'd do:

1-Set definite hours.
Get a definite block of time to work. This will likely be when your little one is in bed for the night or before she wakes up. That is *definite* work time and don't deviate from that. Treat it like a job, because it is. Any other time you get outside your "work block" is a bonus.

2-Decide what you are going to focus on.
Find your topic/niche/etc. Find out where you want the money to come from (affiliate/selling your own stuff, etc). And as someone said, STICK WITH THAT.You'll never get anywhere if you're setting up new things every five minutes.

3-Get good about your time management.
That means no Facebook until you have done what you need to do. That means checking email once or twice a day at most. Maybe you can learn when your daughter is napping/playing--that's when you can read the "Traffic Building 101!" and "How to make eleventy billions today" books you're downloading--since you might not be able to *work* then.

Overall treat this like a job and go into it believing you'll succeed.

Hello! I'm new as well and also a homemaker trying to find a way to help pay the bills. Thus far I've been researching and picking my business model.

The suggestions I can give you based on my experience are:

-Read articles, posts, and books posted on here. This forum is a great resource.
-Make a work space at home that is low on distractions. Turn off the instant messenger and concentrate when you are working.
-Set goals. Make a list of what you want to get done and when you want to get it done. Telling people about your goals will help you stick to them.
-Remember your motivations. Personally, I have a list of reasons I want to work at home taped up on my wall including things like being able to get a running car, paying off my student loans, proving to my husband you can earn an income online, and earning enough money to keep my family comfortable.
-Pick a business model and stick to it. If it doesn't work after a while you can switch then but only work on one at a time. You can expand after you get everything runny smoothly.
-And the biggest thing... don't get information overload! When you find what interests you, research that and that alone. The more different models you read about the more confused you will get. After a while I found that reading was making it more confusing, not less!

It's nice to have you join us. I'm a work at home mom. I have three wonderful boys...and I home school them as well. So, yes, I have to be organized.

My favorite money-making venture is definitely affiliate marketing. I think it's perfect for moms because you don't have all the hassles of providing customer service, shipping products, etc.

Whatever you do, just keep things as simple as possible. When you're ready to grow or expand your business, you can always outsource some projects so that you can still manage your household.

Thank you! I am focusing on affiliate marketing. I don't have a product of my own at this time. My main distraction is my daughter, who is, of course, the reason why I stay home. I need to organize our time better and come up with a schedule. I am getting better. I just wrote my own short article today and am submitting it to different directories.

There is so much great info on this forum that you can learn anything that you want. Decide what you want to do and then learn all that you can about it. I like to try to apply what I am learning as I go so I am learning and making progress at the same time. It makes the learning time a little longer, but I have applied it and the progress is the goal. Good luck.
