Accept Payments VIA Amazon! WOW, I just found this!

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has seen this yet:

http://payments.amazon.com

You can accept payments using amazon! Works with one-offs, recurring, and even has a shopping cart widget that you can integrate into your site!

I found this through my mailchimp account... it turns out I can charge for subscribing to my email list! They use amazon payments to accomplish this.

Pretty cool, but not integrated with DLGuard for delivery of the product, so I doubt that I will use it.

Not only is available for US sellers only but before getting too enthusiastic read this:

What forms of payment does Checkout by Amazon accept?

The following payment methods are accepted by Checkout by Amazon: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB, or Diner's Club credit cards. All credit cards used for payment must have a U.S. billing address.

So, being in Canada, despite having an amazon.com and and amazon.ca account, having CC issued by a Canadian bank that operates in the US, too - I can't even buy anything from you...

Well, that's a real deal killer. Who wants to eliminate much of the world as a customer?

Where do you see a buyer's credit card must have a US address?
"Amazon Simple Pay is currently available only for organizations in the United States. Amazon Simple Pay allows U.S. as well as international customers to use major credit cards to make payments using Amazon Payments. Bank account and Amazon Payments account balance transfers are enabled only for US based customers."
"The following payment methods are accepted by Amazon Simple Pay: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB, or Diner's Club credit cards, bank account debits and Amazon Payments balance. Bank account and Amazon Payments account balance transfers are enabled only for US based customers."

This seems to indicate a US address is not required if one has a major credit card.

You guys are looking at two dfifferent things.
Checkout by Amazon requires a US based CC.
            SimplePay by Amazon does not.

To accept payments the seller must be US based, which is what Istvan was pointing to.

(Although I saw a recent reference to the program now being expanded to the UK).

But the buyer does not have to be in the US if they have a credit card, which is what I was pointing to.

                  According to the FAQ:

What forms of payment does Checkout by Amazon accept?

The following payment methods are accepted by Checkout by Amazon: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB, or Diner's Club credit cards. All credit cards used for payment must have a U.S. billing address.
                  ---

Which confuses me because, above it does say that it would express:

Checkout by Amazon is currently available only for sellers in the United States. Sellers can ship to the following foreign countries Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. (Note: U.S. protectorates, including Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, APO/FPO, and so on, are also supported by Amazon Payments.)

                  ---

But at the end of the day for me, if they don't accept Canadian sellers, and are US Only, it will not become a main stream service.

I agree with Istvan on this one

Because on the event that someone has a paypal issue (ie paypal putting a freeze on the account) this is really good information to have as an alternate payment method.

Even if it is only US based, I'm happy.

Looks pretty good but like others have said you have to be in US. Many of my clients are not.
